County Curth

Perhaps the most politically ambitious city-state in the Valley is Curty, whose hereditary monarch and diplomats use the adjective “Courtesy” in their titles, but rarely display the trait.
Curty is a small, wealthy, and ambitious city on the shores of Loer Lake, in County Curth. Nearby cities include Loughre, Lowers Rest, and Curty Sain. Farther down the Fast River are the twin hamlets of Suli and Fast, also called Sulifast.
Curty endured dark winters and gray summers for more than 150 years, its wealthy and stubborn aristocrats refusing to budge or even acknowledge the changes in the fog. In around 1475, the region began to have lighter summers, and in 1550 Curty had its first completely clear year since the early 1200’s.
Curty is itself a Cachet City, its center having once been located at Curty Sain. (Sain, a corruption of “senior,” means both “old” and “downhill,” and is often used to describe elder cities, and sometimes elderly people.) Curty Sain is ancient and proud, and has had a nearly identical history in the fog as its newer half, just slightly longer and darker.
As the Dearworth Valley began to clear around 1540, diplomats from Curty (still living in the gray) rushed out to take part in the redevelopment of the valley, starting downriver but spreading nearly everywhere. They brought money, connections, and of course conditions, and became the pioneers in a new tradition of exploiting the blossoming towns of the Dearworth Valley.
Lowers Rest: On the north shore of Loer Lake, The Mill at Lowers Rest is the largest sawmill in the Dearworth Valley.
