My Pledge
Week 1: Area of Focus
For my first year of WorldEmber, I will be attempting 10,000 words and have chosen a focus of the history of my world. I have a lot of 'things' and 'places' and 'creatures' fleshed out, but the history seems to be residing mostly in my head. I will be working on transferring the ideas behind the whosits and the whatsits into words and out into the cyberether for everyone to peruse.Week 2: Mini-Meta
Scope
Articles written for my WorldEmber will be historical, primarily people and events, that took place in the world's long history. There are several timelines already written but more than enough room to expand on different events that took place that led us to where the world is today. I may also dabble in prose, if the inspiration strikes, especially around historical figures.Theme
The world is a middle fantasy, and the past is a litlle grittier and dark with more political intrigue and dark secrets than I have painted in the present, which I would like to explore. Along the same lines while the regular feeling I try to evoke is a "grayglow", the history may be moire of a "grimglow" or something out of the "dim" territory. Character agency in history was high - the choices of individuals most definitely changed the world.Focus
While magic and the differences thereof between cultures has always been a thing in this world, wars won - and lost - play a large part in how things changed, and so do politics. Empires literally rose and fell, and nations were created and extinguished. World changing events happened, and only some of them are well known now....why? Which ones?Drama
I'd really like to explain the rise of the Empire, and the fall of the native peoples, and consider explaining what happened to The Folk. That's more than enough drama to go 'round.Word Goal

Thanks - I think I vaguely was aware that WorldEmber had to be articles but a reminder never hurts. Most of my timelines are written (somewhere there's a lot of character history and war/event history that is just sort of oozing in the back of my brain slowly evaporating I'd like to get down.
