Thardom

Thardom is one of the ancient cities of the world. It has seen wars, sieges, rebellions and disorder. But it has always come out on top. Wizards, warriors, and leaders have all emerged out of the city. Its the pearl of dwarven civilization. But today, things are different, today it will fall.
- Togashi Loydar, Elven General, before the storming off Thardom

Demographics

Thardom is one of the largest cities on the planet, and with that a large amount of species, professions and cultures. A vast majority of the people there are dwarves however, with gnomes and humans being second and third. If you know where to look you can see half-orcen mercenaries and laborers, drakes and halflings on adventures, business or odd jobs. With one of the oldest wizard schools in the world and lots of openings for artificers the city has a sizable minority in the arcane arts

Government

Thardom of course features the Gediran royal palace, as well as the parliament. From here the Gediran Empire is run, not from a throne room but rather the congress. The mountain and hill parties eternal rivalry can be seen, as well as a bunch of new parties trying to get in.

Defences

Dwarves pride themselves on the fact that the greater walls of Thardom have not been breached in modern times, even though they haven't been in serious threat since the Elven War. A combination of a new outer wall with runegun cannons and warded stone, along with recent peaceful time has kept the city safe.

Industry & Trade

Being the "City of Civilization" does make it quite connected to the outer world. Thardom relies on importing food, wood and some other base resources, while exporting minerals, metals and finished products

Still there has been some reforms to try improve ancient road networks and build a new sewers. Newer parts of the city feature airship ports and dry-docks, industrial complexes and the newly established and highly experimental rune-rail line.

Geography

The city is lies on and also partly in the great Tharius mountain, where large parts of the cities wealth comes from. The mountanius region also helps fortify the city.
