The Blue Lady Building / Landmark in Deus Irae: Falling Night | World Anvil

The Blue Lady

The answer to the age-old question of "where we come from?".   Constructed by an impossible melding of lapis lazuli, turquoise, cinnabar, mother of pearl, jade, ebony, orichalcum, volcanic glass, ivory, and silk in amounts that would have drained the world of all of these materials, and in such minute detail the materials would have been ruined in the crafting.   All of these elements are crafted into a colossal female form, the section above the waves measuring nearly two-thousand seven hundred feet tall. its face smiling and looking down, towards the waves of the Shieldsea which it rises out of. Its hands it holds a massive tablet, its titanic size positioned so that ships in the right position can read its inscription.   Her skin is lapis lazuli so pure it blends in with the ocean sky. Her eyes are colossal pearls with turquoise irises and her hair is impossible strands of sea-green silk.   Adorned in a robe of cinnabar, rings of orichalcum and obsidian, bands of ebony polished so bright ships' crews can use them as mirrors, a choker made of jade, and a crown made from ivory. All combining to give the figure an intesnly regal appearance.   The tablet she holds is hewn from volcanic glass, gold in tone, with further cinnabar inlaying the message.   All of the materials bear no seams and are, by all accounts, constructed from single pieces where logical, and everything has the same texture and feel one would expect if the statue was a living breathing person.   The lapis skin has a slight give, like a person's. The cinnabar and silk of her robe and hair flow in the winds.   Despite all this, everything about it is indestructible. Blades, knives, axes, bullets, and cannonballs all have no effect on any part. A gods strength can't crack or dent it, and no godly construction has ever scratched it.   Her tablet reads:
We are your creators.   The creators of the world you have lived in since the birth of mankind, and everything in it.   We had no reason, other than to see you grow.   And grow you did.   in ways we could never have imagined.   We were so taken with what you yourselves built, bending the world around you in a way that mirrored our own.   So we joined you.   We stepped from our thrones and worlds and walked among you.   Our powers wouldn't simply vanish.   So we granted them to you.   A reward for your tenacity and your works.   We place this monument to mark our passing and to tell you one thing:   Our heights are within reach.
