Patron Deities
Patron deities are typically the first member of a race to achieve godhood, often by gaining a significant following of worshippers whose combined faith manifests within them as divine power. As the first of their race to attain divinity, they embody the racial ideal, and their people strive to emulate them in hopes of achieving godhood themselves.
In the early eras of society, patron deities were more directly involved in the affairs of their people. However, over time they have taken a more hands-off approach, as people became too reliant on their divinity and expanded too far to be effectively managed. Nevertheless, patron deities still intervene when their people face great need, and they may lend small portions of their power to worthy worshippers to aid their people.
