Nightmist Wood
Geography
The Nightmist Wood is a vast forest that takes a full day's travel by wagon or horseback to cross, from dawn until dusk. It has flat terrain with several well-worn paths leading through it, and travelers are advised to stay on these trails as there are many deep water springs scattered throughout the forest.
Localized Phenomena
The Nightmist Wood earned its name due to the thick fog that forms in the forest at night. The abundance of springs causes the air to become dense and moist, which only adds to the already oppressive darkness. Any open flame brought into the forest will quickly be extinguished by the fog. As a result, people avoid entering the forest after dark, knowing that they will become lost and disoriented. Unfortunately, those who do not heed this warning and remain in the Woods after sunset are eventually found drowned in one of the many deep water springs scattered throughout the area.
