Forbidden Magics

While Necromancy is often portrayed as a forbidden art in most media, it is only partially restricted on Dessend. The desecration of the dead, which includes raising them as undead, is prohibited and regarded as a criminal act in most societies. However, other necromancy spells, such as 'Restore Corpse,' have practical applications and are widely used.
On Dessend, Divination and Enchantment are the most restricted schools of magic. Divination is capable of violating privacy in numerous ways, making it highly regulated. Meanwhile, many Enchantment spells have the potential to deprive individuals of their personal autonomy. As a result, except for a few exceptions, these schools of magic are almost completely prohibited.
Similar restrictions are placed on other schools of magic as well. Transmutation cannot be used on another person or their property without their consent. Conjuration spells cannot be used to summon evil creatures, such as demons, and are prohibited from creating harmful substances, such as acid, except in specific circumstances. Evocation spells that involve fire or electricity are strictly prohibited inside of settlements, with the exception of Spark, due to their potential to cause widespread damage.
Generally, these restrictions apply only to the common folk. Nevertheless, magical scholars and spellcasting adventurers should keep these limitations in mind while spending time in settlements to avoid breaking the law and potentially facing prosecution for illegal use of magic.
