Avatars of the Gods

As deities become more powerful and influential, they often find themselves spread thin, even with their omnipotence. In such situations, deities may choose to forge a fraction of their power into an avatar: an independent manifestation of their will. Avatars are usually created with a single purpose in mind. This is often reflected in the form in which they are created. For example, Momomo takes the form of a goblin as an avatar of Nromrore, the dragon deity of chaos, to ensure that the goblins retain their chaotic ways and prevent them from becoming civilized. The practice of avatar creation is shrouded in mystery, with many unknown factors such as the methods used to create them, the limit on how many avatars a deity can create, the effect avatars have on a deity's power, the degree of specificity in their purpose, and the total number of avatars in existence. It is unclear whether or not avatars are aware of their connection to their deity at the time of their creation. The few confirmed Avatars were only revealed by their creators. Because of their focused nature, avatars do not always fully align with their creator deity in ideals and morals. However, since they are a part of the Deity, they cannot completely defy the nature of their creator. It is uncertain whether it is even possible for them to do so. However, it is believed that if they were to violate the will of their deity, the Avatar would simply be undone and cease to exist. The moral flexibility possessed by the Avatars is seen as an extension of the Deities' own ability to bend their own rules when it suits their purposes.
