Raid on Docking Bay Gamma

Having detected the imminent launch of the Ark Mechanicus 'Divine by Zero', Son's of Horus forces launched a teleport assault, hoping to board the ark and disrupt its launch sequence.

They are met by a warband of Salamanders, determined to hold the dock at all costs.

Unable to teleport directly aboard the vessel, the traitors were forced to teleport inside the vast generatorium halls underneath the titan yards and fight their way through the warren of service ways and tunnels towards one of the main docking bays.

Fighting their way through the remaining mechanicus adepts, Skitari and menial gangs they found below, the son's of Horus strike cadre carved a bloody path towards the ship. 18th legion forces, fresh from the fighting on the surface were directed to defend the final threshold before the vessel could be breached.

With the launch imminent, and their auguries and auto senses foxed by the electromagnetic interference caused by the vast engines, the traitors were forced to feed units into the attack piecemeal, the maze of tunnels and machine holds favouring the defenders significantly.

Aware of the price of failure, the traitor warlord pushed forward in the van, his unit braving a withering fire to close with the defenders, desperate at this stage to break through to the vessel. Meanwhile terminator elite from the 1st company and reaver squads found their way blocked by squads of salamanders, seemingly content to throw their bodies between the traitors and their goal to buy even a few seconds more for the launch.

The battle came to a head as the traitor command element met the full force of the defenders battle line outside the control chamber for the docking clamps. Salamanders units counter charged the son's of Horus and spear-tip met hammer in the dark confines of the warren, loyalist sons managing to slay or drive off the majority of the traitor command forces.

The traitor units, still resolute and determined to make good their objective continued to push the assault against the loyalists, but lacking in coordination and severely weakened, these remaining units were picked off and hunted down, the salamanders cleansing chamber after chamber with fire and bolter.

The fate of the remaining defenders remains unknown, however anyone still inside the dock assembly would almost certainly have been caught in the fiery backwash of the ark's launch, the subterranean tunnel turned into a vast oven by the atomic fires of the vessels departure. Records show that the 18th legion commander initiated a full Vermillion level lockdown of the docking arms prior to launch to prevent anyone from boarding the vessel from bay Gamma.

Suit data captured from traitor power armour, although heavily degraded, appears to show squads of avenging salamanders advancing calmly against the remaining traitor hold outs as the first glimmers of the onrushing flames fill the chambers.
