The small fungus grows in long furry colonies in damp environments. Together, they resemble a typical dwarf’s thick bushy beard in varying colorations of brown, olive, and red. Herbalists often hire adventurers to harvest the fungus, but experienced doctors make monthly trips to caverns to personally cultivate and farm dwarfsbeard.

Dwarfsbeard Ointment

Dwarfsbeard fungus can be used to craft an ointment that can soothe headaches. When you apply a dose of this ointment to your head, you cancel any disadvantage you have on saving throws made to maintain concentration for 10 minutes.

Dwarfsbeard Ointment Recipe

Primary Ingredient: At least 10 ounces of dwarfsbeard fungus

Secondary Ingredients: Dried sponge (1/2 lb), pink quartz (2 oz)

Procedure: Pulverize and scrape in sunlight until congealed into paste (usually 1 hour)

Check: DC 13 Strength or Wisdom check using herbalism kit

Success: 1d4 doses of dwarfsbeard ointment, or 4 doses if you succeed on the check by 5 or more

Harvest

You can use an action to harvest dwarfsbeard, obtaining 1d4+2 ounces of dwarfsbeard on a successful Dex(slight of hand + proficiency Herbalism kit)
