Luerus
Geography
Luerus has three main continents, with one highly elongated and nearly reaching both poles. Due to the smaller size and narrower structure of the continents, traditional deserts are uncommon. The largest stretches only a few thousand square kilometers.
The largest continent, Otoya, stretches from pole to pole. Otoya comes from the stylized Cirrlyr word for "rarity" and "gold". Otoya encompasses three 'great lakes', each a comparable size to Yrst on Sancus. The largest city was founded upon the great lake Uhl, featuring a population of 4.3 million.
Fauna & Flora
Despite having flora and fauna featuring very similar structures to those of Degrao, Luerus offered a great deal of insight into biology. New discoveries in bacterial replication and immune responses in native ecosystems allowed Cirrlyr scientists to produce vaccines for a far greater range of illnesses than before.
Singing plants are also a topic of interest. Plants on Degrao release certain warning chemicals to other plants, warning them that a predator is near. This causes the affected plants to begin producing natural defenses. The same is true for plants on Luerus, though these singing plants take it a step further. When these signals are absorbed, it triggers a response that creates noise. This noise distracts whatever predator in order to increase survival.
Natural Resources
Luerus has noticeably lower gravity in comparison to Degrao. This is primarily due to higher levels and concentrations of light metals - such as aluminum and titanium. Luerus also has a significantly higher levels of copper. These metals are all valuable for spacecraft production as well as medical applications.
The two moons of Luerus were the first to be colonized. Originally established as observation installations to evaluate potential Cirrlyr habitability, they now serve several other purposes. The outer moon functions as refueling and repair station for ships. The inner moon functions as the meeting hall for the United Assembly members.
