Degrao

Geography

Due to Degrao's gravity, mountains are higher. The highest mountain, the White Mountains, are approximately 12.4 kilometers high. These mountains served as valuable barriers between Aswos and the city-state beyond.
Several great lakes are also present on the main continent of Glisios. Yrst is the most visible of the two. Early engineers of the city-state of Nankum created various filters, allowing it's population to use Yrst as a source of water.
Due to the sheer size of the continents, deserts are present throughout Degrao. The largest desert is present at the top half of Glisios, stretching almost seven million kilometers in area.

Fauna & Flora

A common animal found most every on Degrao is the torewak. The torewak is popular pet among the Cirrlyr and serve a variety of purposes, from protection to companionship.
Cirocot also originated on Degrao and serves a popular snack that requires little preparation. Cirocot grows well around large bodies of water and rivers. Once it turns brown, it is ready to be harvested and eaten.
Some characteristics that are first noticed by foreigners are the pink clouds that roam the sky. As part of the water cycle, when water evaporates, it also carries various bacteria with it. These bacteria eventually adapted to life in the clouds. The pink hue of the clouds is a natural pigment caused by these bacteria.

Natural Resources

Like most inner planets, Degrao is rich in natural minerals and metals. The abundance of certain metals, such as iron, helped jump-start Cirrlyr society and advancement. These metals provided the foundation of early tools, armor, and weapons, and later provided a means to cheaply produce industrial machinery.
Water is also common throughout Degrao. Many civilizations found their roots near natural waterways, like the Nankum city-states and the Yrst lake.
Many other resources that are found in can trace their origins back on Degrao. Trees, plants, and animals are used on stations and other habitable worlds as a way to naturalize the environment and produce an atmosphere suitable for Cirrlyr.
