Kessus

Kessus is the embodiment of life and death, and the commerce between. She patronizes doctors, who preserve life and prevent sickness, affirming the skills they have worked hard to attain. She guides the dead and loathes undead. Those who respect the exchange of life and death, as is natural in the world, find her favor. Those who disrespect it by careless murder (of animals or people), senseless war, or the pursuit of immortality beyond their natural measure, earn her ire. Her clerics seek to heal the sick, ease the passing of the dying, and comfort those who continue living; they also aim to put down any and all signs of undeath.   Kessus appears as a dark figure in religious works, though not an evil one. She waits patiently by the deathbed of those who are expiring. She oversees the birth of new life, and ensures the mother's and baby's continued good health. She is natural and inevitable.
