Orcs

Orcs are the fourth of the original races, and during the earlier ages of the world, they migrated or were forced to migrate to some of the harshest places on Deos. But instead of dying into extintion, the evolutionary process had other ideas, and they became one of the strongest races that exist.
The history of the orcs is a harsh one, some say the harshest, considering that from what they remember, they always lived in hard places. Deserts, tundras, swamps and such other places where life is hard to thrive. But they did.
How it happened, like with many of the other races, is tied to the gods. When the world was young and the many other races were settling down, the orcs ended up in the worse territories possible in the planet. Large miasma concentrations, difficult terrain, hard for anything to grow. But they resisted, they endured, they survived. But it wasnt enough to live, but it was enough for some spirits and gods to appear.
Many of the people that lived in these lands ended up praying to gods, to give them the strength and skil to survive, and the many spirits of these places, shaped by their prayers gave them one answer "Earn it". And thus, the first orcs proved themselves worthy of these gods, trial after trial, each one giving them a gift, of strength, of cunning, of fury and will to survive. The orcs were born.

Basic Information

Anatomy

They are humanoid in appearance, but they are far bigger and muscular, and have rough skin that is usually of the colour of their land of origin, like green for swamps and reddish for deserts as example. They also have bigger lower canines.

Genetics and Reproduction

They have the same reproductory ability as any other humanoid and the possibility of breeding with other humanoid races, but they breed faster and in larger numbers than any other humanoid.

Ecology and Habitats

They essentially live anywhere in the world, but most of them live in the dangerous lands they called home for millenia.

Dietary Needs and Habits

They are omnivore, but because of their size, they need more food than normal.

Perception and Sensory Capabilities

They have normal sensory abilities, but because of their need for survival, specially during the nights when some of the most dangerous predators appeared, they evolved the ability to see in the dark.

Diary of Professor Woflebort. Day 16 in my expedition of the Orua jungle in search of the lost temple of Kraman-dur. My hired guides, a couple of orcs, male and female, have showed me the way, and saved my life more than once. I know they think of me a fool and a weakling because of my lack of survival skills. I still cant believe how these people can survive, and even more, live in these forsaken places, and I have seen more than once that they have the potential for more. Is it that this place doesnt allow them to advance? Or are they comfortables living day by day in this god forsaken place? This is... I stepped again on the root of a giant killer plant.
