Runvredir Tribes

The 8 tribes of Tabaxi that inhabit the plains, forests and moors of Conraest. There are 8 tribes, they survive by herding elk and bison, as well as hunting other large game, foraging and planting in seasonal cycles.

Structure

There are 3 special castes in the tribes. Most Tabaxi are not born into any of these, and spend their time tending the herd and making goods for their own survival. Even those in these castes have to spend time making sure there is enough food.   Lore Tenders are those that defend the past. These are the story tellers, knowledge keepers and grave tenders. Stories of past defeats and triumphs live with these people. Artifacts of power are identified and held by these. Provisioning and knowledge transferal is a sacred duty in the day to day of the Lore Tender caste.   Claws Ready are those that defend the present. This caste consists of most of the leadership and warrior class of the tribe. They make decisions and fight on the front, guided by the other castes.   Blessed Seers are those that defend the future. This caste is dedicated to forseeing the future and guiding the tribes through hard times ahead. Clerics blessed by Desna give portents of things to come. Scouts and land readers give information on game or enemies that could be encountered. The few merchants in the tribes come from this caste.

Culture

Some principles that the tribes generally follow: Be equally honest in a fight as your opponent. Be curious. New pastures do usually have greener grass. When cornered, be ferocious. Even if you die their scars will speak your name and they will fear your kin. Life follows seasons including sorrow and joy. Do not trust those that seem to dwell in only one.

Divine Origins

The tribes trace their origins through story to a time when they lived in southern Val'Nar hundreds of years ago. Hearing word of impending doom and destruction, Seafarer Star led her people across the Sea of Conraest in a grand trek. Here they were guided by Desna's light to green pastures, plentiful herds and away from draconic enemies. Many of the paths taken today are the same as were revealed by Seafarer Star years ago. Her spirit resides with Desna and guides the tribes as an intercessor.
