Interim Princes

After the death of King Jolkin's beloved wife Seraphel N'Adween, the political scene began to erupt, with multiple groups putting forward a candidate for the new Queen. Jolkin, still devastated by his loss, tried putting on a brave face and looking over his potential brides but could not find love among the powerful and beautiful women who vied for his hand. And so, he decided that he wouldn't marry for love, and instead to make as impactful of a political statement as possible (more at the behest of his advisors then his own choice). And so he married three women from wildly different places. First he married the daughter of Desrog Gemcrusher the Dwarven General, Erenor Gemcrusher. Erenor was renowned from her battle prowess and devotion from her troops, being the first female Dwarf to achieve the coveted rank of War Master. The union of the warrior and the king brought about the eldest Prince, Takerug Gemcrusher(Person). Takerug would grow to be trained by his mother, and eventually become a War Master himself, before becoming the General of the army of the Empire, based in the Obsidian Helm. The second marriage was between Jolkin and the Elven archmage Kendorin Nirthan. Being one of the most powerful mages to have walked Karnag since the Decimation of the Titans, and a cleric of the goddess of magic, Mistra she excelled at an early age, eventually becoming Grand Matron of the Emerald Glade. The union between the king and Grand Matron was meant to cement ties between the Empire and the central location of magic knowledge in all of Karnag, allowing the country and eventually the continent to enter another stage of societal evolution. The union of these two powerful individuals birth Filrael Nirthan, the youngest Arch Mage in the history of Karnag. Finally, the King wanted to marry someone from the trade empire of the Dragonborn, to try and calm the tensions between the races that were still present after the Decimation of the Titans. It was decided that he would marry Sondero Goldscales, the richest individual among the Dragonborn, who had built a massive trade empire by buying and selling the magic items and resources left over from the great Decimation. They're marriage birthed both a time of economic prosperity, as well as their son, Darys Kingson. Being born with literal golden scales (unlike his mother's whos were artificially colored), he is regarded by other Dragonborn to be from one of the ancient dragon gods, be it Bahamut or Tiamat.     Years later, when King Jolkin went missing, the Princes stepped up and cooperated (often begrudgingly) to rule the kingdom together. This ruling granted them the name of the Interim Princes, noting their divided (and temporary) power. Takerug has tightened his control on the military, reforming the Obsidian Helm to become the center point of all military power, and not just a stronghold. Filrael placed himself as Grand Mage, an honorary title that allowed him greater access to the annals of the Bloodstone Glade. No one really knows what Darys has been doing, but he seems content to sit in the shadows while his brothers do the heavy lifting.
While not an official title, the name Interim Princes has come to represent the princes well, and they've seemingly embraced it.
