Great Garish Goblins!

The adventurers talk to Chuck Tribulatio, a gnome priest of Aegir who seeks to concoct the ultimate brew, the Ambrosia. He tasks the adventurers with getting these ingredients, trusting them as they are seemingly nobodies that would not be believed. They also met Koner, a Loxodon who works for Chuck and assists around the temple. They were told that their magic items would be given to them upon completion of their first task, returning an ancient tome from a town of "evil" goblins. The team agrees and is about to head off when they meet Lofdar, a Goliath worshipper of Tempus. They travel to the plains North West of N'Koria, where they fight off a herd of Axe Beaks! After a surprisingly grueling battle, they manage to find some time for a short rest. Over the hill, they see a small green figure and quickly take after it. They find a rock in the middle of the field, and they investigate it, finding it to be fake. They open it up and find six ladders descending into the dark. Lofdar climbs down, and while the team is considering dropping down a torch, Lofdar notes how the ground is slick. They call him back up, and after he gets up they drop a firebolt and a massive pillar of flame shoots up from the bottom! They avoid it, and clamber onto Fin's back to descend into the dark.   The team splits up, with Hummel, Marcus and Theodore heading into the tunnel, with Fin and Lofdar standing guard outside. The first team enters a hallway with a fork, and they head to the left, entering a room with rough hewn stone walls. In the center was a pedestal, with a stone box built into it. The box had four keyholes, adorned with a bat, a wolf, a snake or a spider. As they were investigating, Fin got bored and began to enter the tunnel, telling Lofdar to stay behind. He went left, not knowing where his team went, and he entered into a large, well lit cave with mosaics covering the walls. Realizing everyone wasn’t there, he went to find them. In the other room, the team regroups and finds a hidden compartment, with keys with differing numbers of teeth on the key head. They used the keys with the corresponding number of teeth to match to the number of letters in the animals names. Upon opening the box, they find a set of 4 vials with strange, rainbow liquid inside. They collect them and move to the next room, having a near heart attack when they encounter Lofdar coming down the tunnel.   They all enter the well lit chamber, and see a wall arrayed with groups of different monsters. The find that the number of creatures equals the letter in the creatures name (Three Dragons = A). Using this, the enter the word OWLBEAR into the door, and it is unlocked. They continue down another hallway, running into a metal door. Behind it, a small old goblin slides open the grate, and seeing our adventuring crew opens the door. Deciding it best to not go against an armed adventuring party, and having been told to test anyone coming through, he leads them through a series of questions, all of which involved eyes. As they travelled, they encountered a deep red eye on one of the walls, indicating a wrong answer. When they hit the dead end, they hear an ominous sound coming from deeper within the labyrinth. Luckily, they have no more wrong answers, and arrive on a cliff overlooking a massive cave, with hovels and small buildings. They see a massive arena, and they're told by the old goblin that the boss is "looking for a champion". The group watches on as goblins mill about the arena, obviously excited for the upcoming events.   Starting above the arena on a platform, a stairway winds down the wall to the floor of the cave, where the team meets Zinedine Zedan, a Firbolg Druid of the Oaks. While walking down, Fin and Xander decide that openness is better then sneaking around, and so decide to walk right up to the wall of the arena. They are quickly seen, and the goblin kin stands up, laughing at their bravery. He stands almost 6ft tall, and at his side are a female sorceress and a female witch doctor. In his hands is a massive tome, with the symbol of the God of Beer, Aegir on the front. The king tells the adventurers that if they fight his goblins and wins, they will gain the privilege of being sacrificed to the dark god he serves. Deciding that was counter productive to their will to live, they deny his request, and in response the king sends out his Worg Riders to deal with the intruders. Xander quickly casts Calm Emotions, bringing the worgs and their riders to a halt. He, along with Lofdar, Fin and Marcus run into the arena, headed for the book. The king, always ready for a challenger, runs back at them and begins his attack. Meanwhile, Zinedine and Hummel remain behind, as the worg riders break out of their spell. Two of the worgs run into the arena, while the leader of the pack chases Hummel back up the stairs on the wall. Zinedine gets a blow on one of the passing worg, killing him and crushing the goblin rider in the ensuing fall. Back in the arena, Fin lets out a battle cry and activates his strongest runes, doing massive damage to the goblin king at the expense of his most powerful abilities. Lofdar attempts to help, but has a hard time hitting the cunning King. From behind them, the witch doctor and sorceress fling spells at Fin, with him shaking most them off with a strong force of will. While Marcus fires off whips of water and shots of ice, Xander uses mage hand to attempt to grab the book from the kings hip, managing to grab it and pull it towards himself. He hands it off to Lofdar, points to Hummel, and just says "Throw it!" While Fin and Marcus held off the king, and with Lofdar preparing to throw, Zinedine cast spell after spell, buffing his party and bringing natures wrath down on his enemies. Lofdar rears back, seeing Hummel in the distance, barely fighting off a worg and rider, and throws with all his might and accuracy. Hummel reaches out to grab the book, almost fumbling it, but his halfling luck holds and he manages to grasp the book and pull it in. Marcus finishes off the worg fighting him, then turns to face off against the goblin king, just in time to see Fin come to his knees as the king strikes another deadly blow. The witch doctor runs up to her king and casts a healing spell, bringing him back to near his full strength. The king, Lofdar and Fin trade blows, but as the turn rolls around, Fin goes unconscious. Xander sees this, but he had already fled back some feet and was almost out of healing spells. He runs back to help his friends, but as he does a massive beam of moonlight appears behind him, with Zinedine frying through the last remaining worg rider, protecting Hummel from another attack. Marcus continues to assault the king from a distance, before managing to knock the king unconscious with a water whip to the temple. At this point, seeing the weakness in her former king, the sorceress cries out in Goblin, seemingly rallying the goblin spectators to her cause. This causes the witch doctor to turn away from her king, abhorred that the sorceress would betray them, before firing off a Ray of Sickness to try and kill the traitor. Marcus attempts attacks, and knocks the king unconscious, quickly calling out to the goblins to stand down or their king dies. The witch doctor, still loyal to her king, puts up her hand, as do half of the goblins in the stands. The sorceress however decides to continue her coup. Hummel, seeing an opportunity now that the warg is gone, and takes a shot. He aims, fires, and hits the sorceress square between the eyes. She drops, and pandemonium ensues. As goblins scatter to the winds, Xander arrives at Fin's side and quickly heals him with one of his last slot. Xander, angry at the goblin king, decides to stab him, attempting to finish the job. He does some damage, but as he plunges the blade into the chest of the king, the goblin awakes, quickly slashing at the surprised satyr. As Xander backs up, clutching his wound, Fin finishes the job, leaving the party standing in a field of carnage.
This is the Troubled Dragons first adventure together, and despite coming from many walks in life, they come together to make a great team!
