Family is garbage. Also filthy rich and old old family of witches and wizards, very traditional. He tells them he's gay and they kick him out and cut contact with him. He runs off to the witch that cured the curse that was put on his family and she agrees to take him in and raise him. Since Trixie is best friends with Markus' mom he becomes friends with Markus and then becomes friends with his friends which leads him to Hugo. He has a big family and while he wasn't very close with some of his family he misses Adelaide is older sister and has a lot of guilt and regrets for not being there for his younger siblings
