Scope
The motivation behind building Demis
This world is being built to be used personally by me to run my groups through. I've always been a DM and I prefer to have control of the games and build out the stories themselves. When it comes to tabletop games I know there are some differences to how they "should" be played. For me, story has always been the main focus of any campaign. This world is being built to allow for many stories to be told, throughout ages, but still all connect in a special way.
I look forward to building out this world with my groups and seeing what stories can be built within the world.
The goal of the project
This is specifically being built for D&D 5e campaigns. I hope to build out a world where my groups' characters have the ability to grow and find meaning within their own stories. I believe that character driven gameplay brings incredible meaning to the game itself so that is the focus I am going for.
Demis's Unique Selling point
This world is built around the idea that knowledge is power. I find that strength based worlds, ones that focus on the strength of armies/empires/monsters have a basic function, the idea of a big bad at the end of the road. Though these types of settings can be incredibly entertaining to be a part of, I often find myself more interested in things like political intrigue, unexplained mysteries, and dangers unseen.
In a world built around those who are considered the strongest in terms of character and knowledge creates new and interesting conflicts that you may not find in a more straight forward setting.
Theme
Genre
High Fantasy. Focused on Medieval time where magic is a known entity but not everyone can master it. Much practice is needed for the general usage of magics. Gods are a recognized entity, they often get involved in the world as a whole but only when needed.
Reader Experience
Though magic is present in this world, it should still feel realistic.
Reader Tone
This world is in the middle, like our own there are parts that are good and those that are bad.
Drama
One of the current Masters has just passed away. There is now a competition of sorts to find the next one.
