In the world of Demis, upon the continent of Ankroth where the primary currency is knowledge. In the capital of Elys lies The Grand Library which stores all knowledge, founded by The Masters, the eight holders of knowledge, who are known for having brought significant new knowledge to the Grand Library.

We join the party on a swaying ship, The Orca. Gargax Nyaldaashkmeller is very seasick and heaving over the side of the railing, his first experience on a boat since he and his sister departed Dracmeadow a month prior. Barian Daevonport is resting on a nearby hammock below deck and, succumbing to her kleptomania , Jaxi Nyaldaashkmeller swipes his pouch of gold and gems. Misht, finally looking up from the book he had been otherwise consumed by throughout the trip, decides to intervene on the thievery trying to out the aarakocra for her crime. This causes Gargax to step in and lie to protect his sister, not for the first time, stating it was all a misunderstanding and returns all of Barian’s items, including her beloved sapphire.
Gargax and Jaxi are currently under a relatively vague contract with Misht to protect and guide him in his quest that he has yet to specify the details of. Jaxi holds the theory that Misht plans to gather new knowledge to bring to The Grand Library to earn himself the newly opened Master position. Barian, following the incident with Jaxi, found common ground with Misht in their mutual desire to gain new knowledge and inserted himself into the group.
The hastily secured cargo boat eventually arrives at port and the party is greeted by Captain Geoffry Tane, who welcomes the group to Arbor Harbor, a small lumber village in Newbeech. The party heads to the local Tired Trunk Inn & Tavern, and rents four rooms; through interacting with locals, the group learns that people have been frequently going missing in the nearby Limerick Forest. The local Union Representative Erig Geirrison requests the aid of the new adventurers and promises them 3 GP and a blue item in exchange for information regarding the disappearing scouts. The party agrees and sets out.
Following some tracks, the party arrives at a Giant Spider cave which they are able to kill as well as a large monstrosity known as an Ettercap.
The group frees two terrified male scouts who swiftly head back to Arbor Harbor. The group also discovers the corpse of a female scout and agrees to bring her back to town after investigating the crevasse in the cave.
Within the cave there is a skeleton on the floor and a slot in the wall with a blue stripe that Barian inserts the sapphire that Jaxi had nicked from him into. The floor then opens up to reveal a secret set of stairs. The group heads into the tunnel and are met with a decayed corpse and a long message from an individual named Torinth Peltronius - Last of His Name that instructs to “Find Fridga in Shidon.” The group is confused but returns to Arbor Harbor with the corpse.
In the time it took for the group to return, Erig had apparently been tricked by a Mr. Gary Lorros, who is proclaiming having saved the town and done everything the party had just accomplished, finding the spider cave and freeing the trapped scouts, who are currently with him, pockets noticeably fuller.
He had successfully cashed in on the gold reward but discarded the blue ribbon that had been saved for Jaxi, which she swiftly retrieves. Misht finds it the best course of action to drop a severed head from the rafters of the inn, swiftly dispersing Gary, his party and all of their celebrants.
The party then rests for the evening in the Inn, with little discussion. Barian appears antsy to continue moving. Jaxi concludes the evening by writing in her journal, as Misht stares once again into his tome while Gargax snores the night away.
