The Murder of the Wynn's
The Murder of the Wynn House is probably one of the darkest events of modern Avarnian history, and has been the cause for controversy for the Council ever since.
Once upon Avarniom lived the great House of Wynn, they were the original holders of the central plains and had started a famous horse breeding process that was producing the finest steeds on the continent. Additionally the Wynn House had strong holdings in many Avarnian forest regions. The family was one of the strongest of the Houses and held the biggest political sway.
Deceit came when the Wynn family was invited to summer as the Aldbourne's coastal home. The two families had been strong allies for the past few decades and had supported each other during the stabilisation of Avarniom and formation of The Council. However, Aldbourne House had been plotting alongside Edgecomb House to remove the Wynn obstacle.
As the Council grew in strength Aldbourne and Edgecomb had envisioned a world conquered under their rule while the Wynn family had seen progress in different more peaceful areas. The talks of war had stopped after a short discussion. However those of the Aldbourne family wished to build the navy they would need but had no ready access to timber, and the Wynn Family forests were being denied to their loggers.
At the Coastal Summerhome the bulk of the Wynn family found themselves betrayed. The proceedings were some of the most brutal and ruthless in history. The entire detachment of Wynn house guards and servants were killed alongside all the attending family members. In Wynn country their Manor was overrun by Edgecomb family forces, who slaughtered everyone and burned the place to the ground. Only two Wynn children escaped the assault, Atwell and Alicia, carried to safety alongside a small group of the Reynalis Family. A small less powerful house with strong ties to the Wynn estates, the Reynalis name was almost wiped out alongside their allies. A small ship of refugees sailed for safety, ending up in Olancia.
The lands of the Wynn House were divided between the Aldbourne and Edgecomb House. Aldbourne left with all of the woodland and as much timber as they please to build their brand new navy while Edgecomb took the bulk of the horse breeding plains and immediately claimed the famous steeds legacy as their own. Despite the outrage of the other council Houses none were at a point to enforce any real consequences and The Murder of The Wynn's would go on to be the greatest political crime of Avarnian history.
