Pioneers of the sands
The people of Rezicath are a persistent and strong people. Particularly gifted in the arts of navigation and the taming of strange wild beasts. The rezicathian culture is founded on the tradition of exploration. Most people will have an innate sense of wanderlust burning in their heart, this is penchant for travel is part of the reason they are so well known across Deloth. The other is the rite of the Vendontul, translating "To see The Horizon," This is an ancient tradition that has grown among the Rezicathian culture. Before properly coming of age a person must embark on their Vendontul, a journey. It can be as simple as booking passage on a ship and returning, or accompanying an expedition into the desert. Though people can garner more respect by leaving for longer, going further afield, and returning with riches or tales of great feats undertaken in foreign lands. The greatest honour is given to those who have found a partner on their journey and returned home with them. Rezicathians are happy to divide themselves into a few major cultural groups. 'Those of The Sands;' Teisku. 'Those of the Coast;' Vatelsku. 'Those of The City' Me'udsku. The Teisku are those that live upon the shifting sands of the deserts, typically in small bands that live upon large lizard creatures that survive the heat.
The Teisku were the first group to divine water from beneath the ground and this has given them the power to control the passage of people through the desert. The Teisku are a disparate bunch with little to unit them but the common need for water and knowledge of the sands. They make their capital in Ju'Kul'Ovek; 'The Welltown of Life,' where a council of Elders decide the rulings over various matters. Though due to the free spirited nature of The Teisku, this council has little say over most matters, they tend to be the higher judgement for matters of law between various factions of Teisku. Despite their namesake it is common to find Teisku all over the world and they have a significant community in Precipice city where they work as desert guides for expeditions.
The Vatelsku are the most numerous of the cultural groups. They exist all over the coastline and various islands where plantlife is teeming and the lands are reasonably fertile. With the mountainous ring making passage across the peaks into the desert only possible at specific locations The Vatelsku are content with their coastal regions. They are the least connected with Rezicath's ancient artifact economy, tending to stay out of those matters. They make their money in the trade of typical commodities instead, Precipice city is the most famous city in rezicath, but the metropolis would not survive without the supply of Vatelsku food and the shipbuilding industry. Those of the coast live spread across many settlements around Rezicath, those wishing to experience the other side of Rezicath can travel to other cities like Inashull, Kriamont, Zenlath, Avley or many of the other smaller cities.
The Me'udsku are the citizens of "Vo'destov" or 'Precipice City' in the common tongue. Most of Rezicath's wealth is based in Precipice City, set on a cliff face high above the level of both the coast on one side and the desert on the other. It is the gateway to the sands. The Me'udsku are a well travelled folk, most have at some point travelled throughout the Cobalt Isles on ships during their Vendontul. When they return to Precipice City they take up places in either guilds or in the service industry tending towards the many travelers that visit to explore the desert or trade in the world famous Precipice Markets. They are typically viewed as the least traditionally Rezicathian by the other groups, their way of life being much more regimented and stricter in their behaviours. Regardless of the opinions the merchants and guilds of Precipice account for a huge percentage of the trade on the continent.
