Birthplace of Civilisation

Rezicath is mainly made up of two types of landscapes. Tall mountain ranges of sheer cliffs and rolling deserts of constantly shifting sands. There are fertile regions rich with plantlife on the coastal areas of the mainland and the offshore islands are full of settlements and people. However mainland Rezicath has a central desert that is almost completely ringed by nearly impassable mountain ranges.
Venturing into the desert is a sure way to a quick death, there are very few sources of water to the point where it is more valuable than gold in some areas. However, the desert sands hold secrets of ancient artifacts and items of immense power and value that lead people to hold countless expeditions to explore and find. This industry has become a major part of the Rezicathian economy.
In ancient scriptures found in the ruins of the desert, it is said that rezicath was once a fertile land of diverse plant and animal life and was inhabited by a race of old superior beings referred to as the Ancient Elves. They had advanced knowledge in technology, sciences, magics and biology. It is proposed that these were the original elves that explored and settled all throughout Deloth.
Much like so many other civilizations have in the interim period between the ancient Rezicathians and the modern era, they seemed to have reached a point before crumbling into disorder and disappearing from the world. It is guessed that the experiments of the Ancient Elves caused some magical effect that altered their lands into the desert that lies there now. Though no real reason has been discovered, it is the best theory based on the existence of The Crater of The Endless Gale and The Glass City among other strange points of antiquity.
