The Torn'Barath
After Nictos became Nix, the King of Daemons, he incited a terrible drought in the southern lands of Anglëa, which were home to the Baraki and Cheflai. This drove the various tribal clans of Baraki to make war with one another as resources grew ever more scarce. A few, however, banded together under one banner, and one named Skör was named Barkhuor, and he subdued and united the tribes under his banner, then led them into Garta'Jun, inciting war with the Jun'Shönai. Thus began the Sundering War, the Torn'Barath.
The Conflict
Battlefield
Primarily fought in the southern lands of Anglëa, which would one day compose the lands of the nations of Südhland, Nix, and Barakum. What is considered the first true battle of the war took place in the Valley of Crows, when the Baraki, led by Skör, began their invasion of Garta'Jun. Most of the war would then take place within the borders of Garta'Jun, with the Baraki deforesting over half the existing jungle before being halted at the Black Mountain Pass.
For a time, the war retained this stalemate, with most combat occurring in the northern half of Garta'Jun, and this is considered the second phase of the war. During that time, the Saharin and Cre'eki awoke, and both were bidden by Nix to go to war, further confusing the battle lines and balance of the war; this period saw the Baraki undergo a great schism in their power structure, which ultimately led to the Baraki retreating from the war for a time, leaving a vacuum which was filled in by the Cre'eki and Saharin.
The third phase of the war began with the corruption of the Baraki, who then, bolstered by Orikai, Saharin, and Daemons, marched upon the Cre'eki city of Nikopolis and purged the remainder of the Jun'Shönai from the land, which now fell under the dominion of Nix. The war in this stage moved out from Garta'Jun, now named Nix, for the jungles were burned away or used to fuel the rising empire of the Daemons. Battles were often won by Nix, forcing his enemies to fall back further North and West, and raids by Orikai and Baraki, now often called Uraki, upon the fledgling city-state of Rhuma. As Nix grew sure of his victory, however, his stanglehold laxed, allowing the newly awakened Saxoni to flee his grasp and join the newly established Rhumnarian Empire, which now began to press back against the extant borders of Nix's kingdom.
The final and shortest phase of the war began with the kidnapping of Latia, the niece of Emperor Octavius of Rhuma, which sparked outrage and a hunger for revenge. Rhumnaria came upon Nix's kingdom like a raging tide, overwhelming the border defenses in mere weeks of fighting, and for years the battles in the deserts further ravaged and scarred the cursed lands of the South, up to the very Valley of Ravens where the war had begun so long ago. Wal'Shönai came to aid the Rhumni, and Saxoni and Lindons were called to war. A naval expedition to take the eastern shore was lost entirely at sea, and the host of the Empire broke deep into the land of Nix, and put a siege upon Nikopolis, where the Daemon King had made his abode. There, the final battle of the war was fought, and the Daemons defeated, ending the war.
