The Great Comet of 1843

The Comet passed in the late summer of 1843 and to most, it signified nothing more than the majesty of the natural world. To a few others, it signified the beginning of the end. When The Reckoners plan to tear the gates of our world open and begin the merger of The Hunting Grounds with the material plane. The Sioux and Lakota named it the Eye of Wakan Tanka (The Great Spirit) and considered it a powerful omen.
The Comet's passing was the first time the comet passed by our solar system in recorded history, as far as we know. The french Astronomer Dr. OliviĆ©r Thibodeaux noted that the comet's illumination dimmed severely and unexplainably when it should have reached its brightest point. The American Astronomers Society largely ignored Dr. Thibodeaux's findings and concluded faulty equipment and substandard scientific process.   In conjunction with a ritual human sacrifice, The comet brought with it enough kinetic energy for the Servitor of the Reckoner "War", known as Raven, to make the first meaningful tear in the veil between our material world and the spiritual realm - known as the Hunting Grounds to many of the Indigenous American tribes. Thereby giving Manitous and other beings of the spiritual plane an opportunity to enter the American Great Planes.

Geography

The Great Comet consists mostly of ice, various silica and Ghost Rock. This makes it the largest deposit of Ghost Rock never to be found. The surface is jagged and irregular, due to the surface melting, vaporising and solidifying again, repeatedly when it enters and leaves a solar system.

Localized Phenomena

Ghost rock makes up around 20% of the total material composition. Which is why the Reckoners could harness its kinetic energy as power.

Natural Resources

The great Comet is mostly H2O, around 55% but has substantial deposists of various Silica and Ghost rock.
