Star Venom
Kul-Rathun: The Venom-Ship
"I am more than vessel, more than dream. I am creation and dissolution bound in form, a fragment of the Snake's will made manifest."
Originally crafted as Windsoul in the dreamwork forges of Or Drianor, the vessel that would become Kul-Rathun began its existence as a paradox of divine ingenuity. Built from solidified cloudstuff and hurricane-forged spindles, it possessed an almost sentient quality even in its earliest form.
"Each surface shimmers with latent energy—alive, almost sentient. Yet what it will become is beyond even its creators' dreams."
For fifteen years, Windsoul carried Zastor through the void beyond known realms, its dream-forged hull adapting to challenges no vessel was meant to endure. Through the thinning skies of Gerlandria, past Thiandalune's celestial expanse, and into the deepest reaches of the void, the ship demonstrated an uncanny resilience.
The transformation came at the edge of existence, where The Pearl Snake's coils encircled reality itself. The cosmic entity recognized something special in both vessel and pilot, choosing to infuse Windsoul with its own essence. A single drop of the Snake's venom, a fragment of pure cosmic potential, reshaped the ship into something entirely new.
"What was once a vessel of dreams will become a harbinger of purpose. You and your ship will merge, and together, you shall be reborn."
The transformation was both destruction and rebirth. The venom coursed through Windsoul's structure, rebuilding it at the molecular level. Dream-forged materials merged with venomous essence, creating a hybrid form that defied conventional understanding. The ship emerged as Kul-Rathun, a name that held deeper meaning in the Snake's ancient tongue.
Now a sentient partner in Zastor's journey, Kul-Rathun possessed capabilities far beyond its original form. Its obsidian hull could phase between realities, its venom-infused sails could cut through the fabric of existence, and its consciousness resonated with both divine and cosmic frequencies.
"I see the void, the currents, the stars—not as shadows on a wall but as truths woven into a tapestry I now move within."
Throughout the Black Fire War, Kul-Rathun proved invaluable to Zastor's work. Its ability to navigate between realities allowed them to preserve divine essence from fallen gods, while its venom-infused nature helped stabilize volatile energies. The ship's stealth capabilities, enhanced by its ability to shift partially out of reality, protected them from both divine and demonic pursuers.
During their journey to The Crossworlds, Kul-Rathun's capabilities were pushed to their limits. The Atheloi, recognizing the unique nature of the vessel, helped repair and enhance its structure. This intervention left permanent marks on the ship's essence, further elevating its already remarkable capabilities.
In the years following the war, Kul-Rathun became more than just Zastor's vessel—it was his confidant and advisor. The ship's cosmic perspective, inherited from The Pearl Snake, often provided crucial insights that helped shape Zastor's understanding of power and reality.
"We are bound not by chains, but by purpose. Together, we carry the weight of transformation."
As Zastor's physical form grew increasingly unstable in his later years, Kul-Rathun's presence became even more crucial. The ship's ability to stabilize reality around itself helped maintain its master's corporeal form, allowing him to complete his final works.
The ultimate fate of Kul-Rathun remains unknown. Some say the ship still sails the void between realities, carrying forward its mission of transformation. Others believe it returned to The Pearl Snake, its purpose fulfilled. Whatever the truth, its impact on the development of both divine and mortal magic remains undeniable.
