Traveling in Deabros

Travel in Deabros is broken out into three 8 hour sections per day. Unless the party chooses to forgo sleeping for the night, one of these 8 hour sections will always be dedicated to sleeping. Sleeping however does not mean that the party gets a long rest. Instead a long rest can only be taken if the party consumes rations and rests for 8 hours, other than the required beddown time. In order to take a long rest one full ration per party member will need to be consumed. A short rest requires ½ of a ration and at least 20 minutes of downtime.   This means that in the world of Deabros a long rest is considered a time in which the party takes time to cook and have some downtime before bedding down for the night. With that in mind, each day the party must decide how they want to spend their two 8 hour blocks. The party can choose two, or the same thing twice, of the following each day.
  • Travel at a standard pace for 8 hours - go 24 miles
  • Travel at a fast pace for 8 hours - go 30 miles and risk exhaustion
  • Take a long rest by cooking rations and having downtime - gain the full benefits of a long rest including reducing exhaustion by 1
  • Go hunting for 8 hours - possibly gain rations
The party can decide if they want to keep track of their own rations in their inventory or if they wish to pile all their rations together and have the DM track them.
