Banora

Birthplace of seas and land

Building Blocks of the Material Plane

Banora was initially created to house the material required to create the Evenia. A sea of earth, fire, water and air floating aimlessly ready to be plucked and placed in its correct location in the material plane. Azreal and Frealia, being the two Gods most attuned to nature and the elements were the primary architects of the world, and Banora served as their testing ground. As such many familiar scenes can be found on both Banora and Evenia, mainly mountain ranges and bodies of water. These visages served ass direct inspiration for the creation of Evenia.   In its early days Banora simply housed the raw elements needed for creation. As time went on however Banora began to take on a life of its own. With the direct contact the materials had with their Divine creators, they began to take on a shape reminiscent of them. These beings, now known as Elementals began to wander Banora, mindless at first they were given sentience by Frealia. Elementals proved to be key in the creation of Evenia, helping to directly create the lands and seas now inhabited by the denizens of Evenia.   They returned to Banora after construction was finished, and began to make a world of their own. This land was as fierce and untamed as the elements themselves. While on Evenia there were a multitude of safe locations in the form of peaceful lakes or serene plains, Banora had no such thing. Jagged cliffs and explosive volcanoes, deep trenches and wicked storms. The landscape was always a reflection of Frealia herself, who shaped the land in her own image, as beautiful as it is deadly.

Domain of the Scorned

When the need for Banora disappeared, Azreal returned to Evermyre. The original intent was to leave Banora in place in case the raw materials it housed were ever required again. However Frealia had a different idea. Her relationship with the other members of the pantheon had always been strained and Banora provided a locale that could be completely subservient to The Scorned and all her whims. Beyond that the Elemental beings that resided in Banora now viewed her as their God. To pass up such a clear opportunity is not like Frealia, and thus Banora became hers.   In Banora, Frealias will is law and any who oppose her usually don't last very long. Unlike in the material plane she has an omnipresent view of the world and unchecked power to control it. As such the inhabitants of Banora worship her exclusively as their God-Queen and outright reject the other members of the pantheon. Speaking their names is taboo enough in Banora, and worship is outright banned. Banora sees an extensive amount of conflict in its outermost edges as disciples and followers of other deities clash with Frealia's chosen. This is fairly unique as no other God has as hostile a relationship with other members of the pantheon as Frealia. These invading forces simply serve as a stopgap to keep Fealia in check, as many fear she will someday grow strong enough to threaten the rest of The Gods

Shiftlands

Banora is as wild as its ruler and as such it rarely stays the same for a prolonged period of time. Safe zones where the lands don't change are where the majority of the moral populace live, and they do so as a result of their continued worship of The Scorned. Everything outside of the safe zones are known as Shiftlands. These large sections of the plane are named as such because of their ever changing nature. Chasms form suddenly, canyons close up, gale force winds upend anything not secure, wildfires rage then suddenly snuff out, downpours starts suddenly and violently. This is the nature of Shiftlands.   The danger of them cannot be overstated and travel between safe zones is not recommended unless the travelers are well supplied and even better informed. Just as the terrain is ever changing, so is the danger. Shiftlands are more calm and safe when Frealia is of good temperment, and the inverse is even more true. As such a skilled navigator is often also well informed of the politics and news in Banora. Not something that is easy to achieve given the strictly controlled flow of information that Frealia and her chosen have.   Shiftlands are interpreted to be the ferocity of Frealia on full display, a message to Banora's populace of what their God is capable of.

Communion of Tempest

Banora's mortal population is ruled by an elite group of priests who answer to Frealia alone. This theocratic institution is known as the Communion of Tempest. Often shortened simply to the Communion, they claim to be the only source of truth in the many planes. The high priests of the Communion are the only ones allowed to speak to the Scorned directly, and are the arbiters of her will alone.   The Communion believe Frealia alone to be the true heir to the seat of The Creator. After the Divine War, Frealia proved to be among the strongest of the pantheon. This strength did not go unnoticed and many flocked to the Communions ranks in the early days of Banora's existence. Shunned by the other Gods for her popularity, she claimed herself the heir of creation. Banora would be her seat of power and the many planes will be her inevitable conquest.   The troubling nature of the Communion of Tempest lead to a multitude of invasions into Banora by other members of the pantheon. These small scale wars have never amounted to much beyond keeping Frealaia busy. At the moment Frealia's army, known as Templars, do not have the numbers to threaten the dominion of other Gods. It is feared that if she is allowed to gain sufficient power, she will ignite a new Divine War, the consequences of which would no doubt be catastrophic.
