NPC Biases

Most NPC characters will have biases. Positive biases are ones that mean that the character is drawn towards or likes those things while a negative bias means that the character is repulsed by or dislikes those things. These biases can impact the way that an NPC responds to other characters and during interactions.

Positive Bias

If the character interacting with the NPC has positive bias towards that character the following will apply:
  • They will offer goods and services for 20% less then their regular prices.
  • They will purchase goods and services for 20% more then they would normally.
  • The interacting character has advantage on interaction checks

Negative Bias

If the character interacting with the NPC has negative bias towards that character the following will apply:
  • They will offer goods and services for 20% more then their regular prices.
  • They will purchase goods and services for 20% less then they would normally.
  • The interacting character has disadvantage on interaction checks

Double Bias

  • If both a positive and a negative NPC bias applies to a character, they negate each other out and the NPC will engage with them as if they didn't have any bias.
  • If an NPC has multiple biases in either the positive or negative category that applies to a character, the effects do not stack.
  • If a group of characters is interacting with an NPC as a group, all of their biases will apply to the encounter.
