Morpher

A morpher is more a collection of cells than a life-form, one able to shift its structure to alter its appearance in specific or metaphoric ways. It can assume the shape of a person or an object, or just a form, as long as it possesses equal mass. Skilled morphers can develop this skill to push their abilities to imitate specific individuals, right down to their voice. They can also form physical weapons as well. This is not a result of evolution. Something peculiar happened to create you or your species. They were either genetically engineered or a very unique mutation.
There have only been 5 documented since the Fall and only one that has been studied. It is known that when they die, they loose their form. The result is that the body disolves doen to a puddle of brackish tissue. One Morpher was kept in captivity and studied at Camp Hope. There it was proven that it had cognitive capacity and emotional capacity in a manner equivalent to Humans.
You ask me how I came to be. But do you know? Do you recall your beginning and how you were created? Or have you always been?

Basic Information

Genetics and Reproduction

Nothing is known about these creatures beyond the very basics. It is not believed that they were made by science as they have all been discovered after the Fall. It is considered that this kind of creation is beyond the current capabilities of society. Because of this, it is generally believed that they are somehow the result of the virus. Which leads most to reassure themselves with the idea that they should not be able to reproduce.

Growth Rate & Stages

Subject 4568 reported that it went through different states of existing from the time of its first memories to the time that it was being studied. However, it was not able to reliably report on what those various stages might look like. It did talk about a time in its "beginning" that it wasn't able to change its shape at all but was rather like a sllime.

Dietary Needs and Habits

Subject 4568 proved to be an omnivore. They could eat food while maintaining a form or while in a formless blob.

Behaviour

A Morpher living or moving amongst Humans would likely encounter the stories about their kind and see the way that the Others and the Awakened are treated. They are not likely to trust Humans readily. It is likely that they would keep their ability to change their shape a closely guarded secret.

Additional Information

Uses, Products & Exploitation

Camp Hope would want another live specimen to study if possible. They would accept the tissue samples from one after it had died.

Civilization and Culture

Gender Ideals

They do not have sex in the same manner that Humans do. That does not mean that they could not develop a gender identity after living around others that do. It is also possible that they could feel agendered.

Interspecies Relations and Assumptions

Morphers are slow to trust others. It is not likely that they have even encountered another Morpher. This means that they are a singular type amongst an ocean of people who are often violent bigots.

Conservation Status
There are Humans that are actively seeking to destroy all of the Morphers, seeing them as vile and dangerous to Humanity. Camp Hope considers their ability to blend in and mimic others too dangerous to allow to exist.

The Mythology

Most do not know that they even exist at all. Many have heard the stories, but generally don't believe that they are real. Stories of the Morpher are often used to frighten misbehaving children or as ghost stories around a camp fire. These stories are readily shared with most not believing that they are true, but rather finding them to be an interesting and frightening story. Because of this, the Morpher has become the shadow in the night. Many things have been added to the story to further a good scare. The result is that anyone actually encountering a Morpher is likely to be terrified of them as they recall all the stories they have heard.
