Lore Item: Old Doll

The doll sits on a worn wooden shelf in the corner, its fabric frayed and stained with age. One of its glass eyes is cracked, the other a dull, lifeless gaze. The stitching that holds its arms together is coming apart, revealing clumps of old stuffing that have long since lost their shape. Its once colorful dress is now faded, the threads unraveling at the hems, as if time itself had slowly unraveled it. There is a faint, lingering scent of decay about it, a ghost of something long lost, though what or who it might have once represented is unclear.

If the adventurer touches or mentions the doll, the Living Relic reacts protectively. They will snatch up and cradle the doll.

The moment your fingers brush the doll, the Living Relic moves with startling speed, snatching it up and cradling it in their arms as if shielding it from harm. Their hollow, clouded gaze softens for a fleeting moment as they mutter, almost to themselves, “It was important to… him…” The words falter, their voice trailing into an empty silence as their brow furrows in confusion. They seem to search for something in the recesses of their fragmented mind but come up empty. After a long pause, their grip on the doll tightens, and they stare off into the distance, their body still, as though lost in a memory just out of reach.
