Spear Fighter

Spear Fighter (1.3) - Adventurer Class

Spear Fighters are used with great effect in many militaries around the world, but are often expensive to field. Every culture makes use of spear fighters, everything from guards to second line fighters in formation to shock troops.

Playing the Spear Fighter

The spear fighter is specialized at fighting and long melee range. They are best used along with other warriors that can use a shield or can somehow protect the spear fighter. They are limited in their weapon choice but very effective, especially when using a long spear in a formation. As a player it is best if you bring your own long spear, which can be up to nine feet long (from tip to bottom), as one may not be available on loan.

Abilities

Armor Allowed: Medium (Level 2)   Weapons Allowed: Dagger, Knife, Stick, Club, Shortsword, Short Spear, Long Spear, One-Handed Mace, One-Handed Axe
Level 1
Spear Training: You gain +1 damage bonus when using short spears or long spears.   Full Offense: You may choose to gain a +1 to damage by fighting more offensively. This reduces your APR by 2, to a minimum of 0. This must be called out before an engagement and last until the end of the encounter, battle, or duel. This ability can be used once per day (1x/day) and can be renewed.
Level 2
Formation Training: You gain +1 APR if there is another fighter with a shield in your party.
Level 3
Cultural Ability
Level 4
Precision Training: Due to your advanced training you can choose to reduce your damage with a spear to 1, which becomes piercing damage. This must be called out with damage and piercing, and the damage may not be increased by any means other than Bless. Spear Training and Full Offense abilities do not stack with this.
Level 5
Defensive Stance: You may gain +1 to APR by fighting more defensively. This reduces your damage by 2, to a minimum of 0. This must be called out before an engagement and lasts until the end of the encounter, battle, or duel. Defensive Stance and Full Offense cannot be used at the same time.
Level 6
Cultural Ability
Level 7
Spear Lord: You gain the rank and title of Spear Lord. At the start of each event gain 10 GP for your services to the crown.   Improved Spear Training: You gain an additional +1 damage with spears (for a total of +2 when combined with Spear Training).
Level 8
Improved Precision Training: Due to advanced training you can choose to reduce your damage with a spear to 2 damage and that becomes piercing and ignores armor. This must be called out with damage and piercing, and the damage may not be increased by any means other than Bless.
Level 9
Cultural Ability
Level 10
Master of the Spear: You gain the rank and title of Master of the Spear and gain 15 GP at the beginning of every event for your services to the crown.   Signature Spear: Choose a specific spear. This spear now receives an additional +1 damage (this bonus stacks with any other bonuses). If you use any other spear, you lose this bonus. You may now have a spellcaster imbue this spear with one of their spells. You can now use that ability, but it has a range of touch and can only use that ability once and then it is “used up.” If you ever change spears for some reason, you cannot use this ability again until after a full event has been completed.
