Koshka Donotpet
The Farzandan Jinn
In the heart of an ancient city, where towering stone walls held the memories of endless battles, lived a healer named Zan. With the sleek grace of a cat, her movements were fluid, her senses sharp. Her feline eyes, glowing a soft amber, could see past the physical world, sensing the pulse of life that connected all things. She lived in a small cottage nestled between the city’s war-torn ruins, using her knowledge of ancient herbs and magic to mend broken bodies and souls alike. For years, the city had been torn by war, its people divided by rival factions that fought endlessly for control. The streets were lined with the wreckage of battles long forgotten, and the skies were perpetually filled with the scent of smoke and sorrow. Zan had seen it all, and yet, despite the surrounding violence, she remained a beacon of hope. A quiet woman of healing in a world gripped by chaos. One evening, as the sun dipped below the horizon, casting the city in a blood-red hue, as Zan sifted through the remains of what once was a house, she found a small rose-tinted bottle. The keen feline brought the bottle home, and as she wiped the grime from its neck, a strange figure appeared before her. He was tall, draped in flowing blue robes that shimmered like the night sky, his skin dark but a color that she had only seen on the fine silks of the wealthy, and his eyes glimmering with ancient wisdom. His presence was both unsettling and captivating, like a dream too real to be true. "I am Pedan," he said, his voice deep and resonant. "I have been trapped in this city for centuries, bound by the wishes of those who sought power and destruction. I am at your will.” Zan studied him with careful eyes, feeling the weight of his words in the air. "And what do you want from me?" she asked. "Peace," Pedan replied. "For centuries, I have seen nothing but conflict and bloodshed. I have granted wishes to many, but never have I seen a wish for peace. You are the only one who might bring an end to the endless fighting, for you have the power to heal, to mend not only bodies but hearts as well." Zan felt a strange pull in her chest, a yearning to help, but also a fear that it might be impossible. "How can I end the war when the hearts of the people are so divided?" Pedan smiled, his eyes full of ancient sorrow. "The war will not end until they are shown a new way. You must be their guide. Let them see the power of healing, the strength in unity." Zan hesitated but then nodded. "I will try." The next day, she ventured into the heart of the city, where the fiercest battle raged. She found the leaders of the two warring factions in a tense standoff, weapons drawn and hatred in their eyes. The ground beneath them was soaked with the blood of their fallen soldiers. Zan approached, her steps soft, barely making a sound. "Stop," she commanded, her skin glowing golden and her voice carrying a mystical boom that silenced the crowd. "You are blind to the destruction you’ve caused. This city, your people, your lives—all are at risk." The leaders scoffed, but Zan held out her hands, palm up. "I offer you not war, but healing. Lay down your weapons and listen." For a moment, the world grew still, until a boy approached Zan, sword still in hand, and a younger boy at his side. “Great mother, you offer healing, then please heal my brother. He has been blinded in the war, and I wish for him to see the beauties of the world.” Zan reached towards the boy, and for a moment there was nothing. But suddenly, his eyes shone blinding and golden before returning to a deep brown. The young boy looked at his older brother in amazement before saying, “She is beautiful, and she is powerful” The crowd was shocked, but still the leaders hesitated, caught between the tension of years of hatred and the fear that coursed through them. But then, one by one, their men lowered their swords and fell to their knees, the leaders following suit. Zan’s eyes glowed with the magic of the earth, and she spoke words that echoed through time, ancient incantations taught to her by the jinn that drew from the deep well of love inside her for all things. As she chanted, a light began to spread through the city, weaving through the cracks in the stone and the hearts of the people. It was not a light of violence, but of understanding—a light that healed wounds, soothed anger, and bound the people together in a bond stronger than any weapon. Pedar stood at her side, watching with pride. "You have done it, Zan," he said, his voice filled with awe. "You have brought peace." The city, once fractured by war, began to heal. The warring factions put aside their differences, and slowly, the city began to rebuild. Zan’s name became a legend, not just as a healer, but as the woman who had bridged the gap between hearts and brought an end to an age-old conflict. Ever since then, their descendants, the Farzandan Jinn, have traveled the world, training in the art of healing and the martial arts to intervene in conflicts and bring peace to Rameh and now 'Ard Aleamaliqa.Koshka
The cream-coated cat-folk sneered at the people who stood in her path. The small clinic was full, just like it always was. They clucked and screeched like the chickens in the pens outside. She was doing them a service! Healing them as she was trained to do. But for what? Constant complaints, assaults, and low pay? And all for what? The greater good? That's what her mother kept saying, at least. She took in a deep breath, her sensitive nose filling with the warm, bitter-sweet scent of herbs, tainted with the irony smell of blood. She was thankful for her mother's skill, but resentful at her refusal to expand. The business, if you could even call it that, had every log wall covered in shelving. They were stuffed with herbs, insects, fungi, and a few things Koshka had to avoid thinking of to keep from losing her lunch. This, along with the patient table and small counter, left little working space, which was only exacerbated by the crowd of people shoving their way in. Letting out a deep groan, she glanced out the window to the outside. Cold, wet, and covered in a thick layer of mud. Why had her parents decided to settle in a place like this? Miserable and filthy, filled with ungrateful, furless giants. Koshka was snapped from her thoughts as a furless hand snatched her wrist. There was another one, tall, with a long blonde braid falling across a coat of furs. She couldn't help but bare her claws as she snatched her hand back with a hiss, barely able to make out the woman's words through all the commotion. She had had enough. Koshka pushed her way past the Norse woman and through the small but dense crowd, plunging out the short wooden door. Yellow eyes squinted at the bright, white light, as a rush of biting cold hit like a wall. Koshka shook out her fur, taking in an icy breath. When her eyes finally adjusted, she glanced around the courtyard, chicken coop, pine forests, smoking chimneys, and… A ship on the horizon?
Koshka Facts
- Koshka was born to her mother, Miit Valarianpaws, who runs a clinic and is trained as a hedge witch healer. Her fader Miu Mindseer is an oracle mind-healer who travels helping war veterans who are haunted by their enemies. And her papa Mao Legsnapper who is a retired battle medic.
- She is the youngest of 17 (10 blood, 7 adopted), and was born as a single kit litter.
- Her parents finally settled in their old age to a cat-folk colony on the island of Hauga in Padshaii Yakhi (The Ice Kingdom ((The Norse Lands)), where she was raised from birth. Missing out on the tradition of traveling.
- Despite being raised in the same place, Koshka has always felt the pull to travel the world. The pull to help people? Not as much. Despite this, she studied under her mother as a healer, but never took to it.
- One day, while working in the clinic, the island was raided. They were thankfully able to fight them off, and the raiders retreated, but not before Koshka was able to take one hostage. This was a half-satyr named Cassidy.
- Koshka kept Cassidy around, making her help in the clinic and around the farm. Over time, and multiple, mutual assassination attempts, the two grew to understand each other and eventually fell in love.
- Cassidy encouraged Koshka’s ambition, leading to her eventually becoming an ambassador for the island and beginning their journey abroad.
- While traveling, Koshka, seeing an opportunity for profit, started The Crows Nest. Eventually, they began business with an Elf named Lumi and a Human named Osbert, forming the guild The Clan of the Wandering Crows, and after a merger with a mercenary guild, The Order of the Twin Talons.
- Other Fun Facts
- Koshka was given her last name by her sister Tincan Rockeater

Farzandan Jinn & Cat-Folk Facts
- The Farzandan Jinn (Children of the Jinn) are a traveling group of healers. They are one of the last groups to cross through the portal from Rameh (Land of Sand ((The Old World)), coming to 'Ard Aleamaliqa (Land of Giants ((Shiandria)) only about 60 years ago. Since coming through, they have spent their time traveling, working as healers and allies with the elven and dwarven armies.
- The Farzandan Jinn are a matriarchal group and often take multiple mates, sometimes these mates can last as short as a night or as long as a lifetime. No matter what, the bond between mates is a great and sacred thing that is treated with the utmost respect.
- Like Shiandrian cats, cat-folk have large litters, and kits from the same litter can have different fathers. This is usually a non-issue as kits are raised communally, often being reared by multiple adults. Due to this cat-folk tend to be very open to adoption as they see all children as their own. But with the influence of the Shiandrians this is beginning to change with younger generations.
- The Farzandan Jinn are given their first name at birth and are typically influenced by the area they were born. As for last names, they are gifted to them at a later date. They can be gifted by anyone, and can change regularly, but must be accepted by the recipient.
- The Farzandan Jinn and most cat-folk tend to be slightly shorter than elves and humans.
