Kalsipher Dalkier

Kalsipher is the son to his orc mother Kaalis and elf father Rami. Both of his parents spent time in their respective militaries before meeting each other. The two met on the battlefield. It was the last battle in a skirmish for land that was owned by the orcs. When the two crossed blades Kaalis could see the regret and terror in Rami’s eyes. She could tell he did not join this fight by choice. She could tell he couldn’t fight at all. Sparing his life, she decided to try to find him after winning the battle. She located the tent he was residing in and asked if he wanted to leave. He agreed.   They taught kalsipher the importance of learning from others and their cultures. After all they came from two very different backgrounds.   Since he was a child. Kalsipher was trained how to fight and protect himself and others by his mother. Trained in several different weapon types and hand to hand combat. She wanted to make sure he was comfortable in any dangerous situation. His dad taught him about different monsters in the realms and their ecology. Knowing your enemy better than they know themselves can make all the difference.   At the age of 16 he was given his mother’s blade and his father's dagger. He was told to travel the lands and to protect its people.   Kalsipher tries to be a man of honor. he sees combat as the purest way for one to express themselves. He spent so much of his adolescence in combat that it’s the only time he feels truly useful or like himself. This led him into the line of mercenary work. It allows him to travel and learn from different cultures and protect like his family wanted. It also gives him a way to make money doing what he is good at. He tried to take jobs that will help people, but life is difficult and sometimes you just got to make money to get by. He is not opposed to taking any job if the money is good enough to wash away the guilt.   Kalsipher does not trust anyone he hasn’t fought alongside or against. He must see that you have the capacity to protect yourself or the ability to learn how to. The world is dangerous and you have to be of some use to him and prove it to earn his trust.   Over time he has become a walking armory. He still has his mother’s blade and his father’s dagger but has picked up several other weapons. They all fill different roles and fit different combat situations he may be in. He also shares weapons with his partner in crime lost. At any point they can use each other’s weapons when the need arises.   His armor has also seen many inclusions over his time of traveling. Starting with simple bracers that he made with his mother to full chest protection, shoulder pauldrons, tassets, and grieves. He adds pieces slowly over time to make sure his combat ability stays in top shape despite the new restrictions.   In recent months he also picked up a new item that has been affecting his life more than he thought it would. Making a deal with a fae and seeing it through, he was rewarded with a shield. This modified kite shield once belonged to a mad redcap general. Once Kalsipher gained possession of it, it grew to fit his size. At first, he loved having the extra protection but slowly realized it has come with some serious side effects. Whenever it is out of his possession he gets really upset and will go retrieve it no matter the situation. He also occasionally can see the visage of that old mad redcap but no one else can seemingly see it. He is worried things might continue to get worse.

Shield of the Bloodbriar

In ancient times, a mighty and bloodthirsty Red Cap chieftain, known as Bloodbriar, challenged the powerful Queen Mab. His punishment was swift and eternal: his spirit was ripped from his body and imprisoned within a shield. Bloodbriar was infamous for his cruelty and bloodlust, surpassing even other Red Caps. This darkness now taints the shield itself. The wielder still retains most of their original cultural heritage but they are “touched” by the Red Caps at the point of possession going forward.

Wielding the Shield Any player who takes possession of the Shield of Bloodbriar loses their 3rd level, 6th level, and 9th level cultural abilities. As the Red Cap's influence takes hold, the wielder's appearance and demeanor slowly begin to resemble those of the monstrous creatures.

Once the shield is acquired it will not leave the possessor unless it is stolen or destroyed. If the possessor does not use the Shield of Bloodbriar at every opportunity then the spirit of Bloodbriar will become angry and take away all of the abilities granted by the shield and the possessor will look at the shields abilities and their cultural abilities.

The shield can be destroyed by certain abilities. If left in a destroyed state the spirit of Bloodbriar will slowly fade away. If repaired before dawn then the spirit of bloodbriar will remain.

Level 3: The player loses their 3rd level Cultural abilities and they are replaced with the following The possessor of the Shield of Bloodbriar can use the shield, even if their class or culture would normally not allow it. The possessor is now also considered a Fae for the purposes of plot, story, event, theme, and some abilities. The possessor can now hear the angry and insane taunts and ramblings of Bloodbriar in their head and can sometimes see Bloodbriar standing near them and talking, or taunting them. This should be role played out to the best of the players ability.

Level 6: The spirit of Bloodbriar, and his insanity, are even more pronounced now and harder to ignore. The possessor’s 6th level Cultural abilities are now replaced with the following Taunt: The possessor can now call out TAUNT. This must be called out and it means that once used all nearby attacking enemies must focus on the possessor and cannot attack any other members of the party. If another member of the possessors party does attack an enemy then that enemy may also attack the offender but that is it.

Level 9: Bloodbriar and the possessor are now one and the same. The possessor now has the ability to only be harmed by cold iron weapons. This ability can be used six times a day (6x day) but cannot be renewed. Bloodbriar must rest overnight to regain this ability and it resets at Dawn.
