Cavalier

Cavalier Class (1.3) Adventurer Class

Cavaliers can be found in Reman, Emerald Folk, Dawnlander, Elf, Dwarf, Red Sun, Jade, and a handful of other Cultures. They are seen as an important part of armies and oftentimes as an important part of daily political, social, and farm life.

Playing the Cavalier

Very effective defensive fighters. This is a class that you can play if you would like to wear a lot of armor. You are not required to wear Level 3 armor but if you do not then you will not gain the full benefits of this class. The Cavalier has a very wide range of weapons to choose from and is very skilled with the short spear. While playing the Cavalier in battle, quest, or even duels you are assumed to be mounted (riding horseback).

Abilities

Armor Allowed: Heavy (Level 3)   Weapons Allowed: Knife, Dagger, Stick, Club, Shortsword, Longsword, Rapier, Single-Handed Spear, Single-Handed Mace, Spear and Shield, Medium Shield, Large Shield, Saber, Longsword and Shield
Level 1
Shield Training: You can use all shields except body shield. A Reman character can still use a body shield but not while they are considered mounted.   Mounted Warrior: You are considered to be mounted. You may cross river obstacles at no cost, and you may carry one additional party member at a time.   Mounted Combat: As this player is considered to be riding their mount into combat, they gain a +1 on damage when using a short spear (lance). If, for some reason, the player is considered to be “on foot” (as in a tourney, duel, a cave, a dungeon, or stealth quest) then the player loses this ability. If the mount is lost or stolen for any reason then these abilities are lost until the mount is “regained.”   Cavalier Code of Honor: May not accept a challenge from a player of lower level or of lesser combat skill. Must accept a challenge from a player, NPC, or monster of equal or greater level and/or skill.
Level 2
Cavalry Formation: For every cavalier in your party past the first you gain +1 to damage with your lance. You must stay within weapons range to continue to receive this bonus. For example, if there are two cavaliers in a party each of them receive +1 to weapon damage, if there are three then each of them recieve +2 to weapon damage.
Level 3
Cultural Ability
Level 4
Improved Mount: Your mount becomes magical and can now fly across ocean obstacles (can carry two party members at a time).
Level 5
Improved Mounted Combat: You gain an additional +1 damage bonus when using a lance/short spear while mounted. This brings the spear damage bonus total up to +2.
Level 6
Cultural Ability
Level 7
Lord of Your Land: You gain the rank and title of Horse Lord. At the start of each event gain 10 GP as taxes from your lands.   Sacrifice Armor: You can call out "sacrifice" to sacrifice points of APR in order to negate damage received from the last attack you suffered. Each point of APR sacrificed absorbs 2 points of damage, up to the total APR of your worn armor. This includes the Dwarven cultural armor ability. Damage exceeding the absorbed amount is taken by you. The APR reduction is restored upon armor repair by a smith, forge, or a high enough level druid. Unused absorption points are lost at the end of the encounter, battle, or duel. This ability can be used once per day (1x/day) and resets at sunrise.
Level 8
Shield Destruction: This must be called out before you strike and can only be used if the player is mounted and using a lance or short spear. Once called, if a strike against a target shield succeeds, that shield is considered destroyed and useless. If the strike misses, the ability remains until it strikes the shield. This ability can be used once per day (1x/day) and can be renewed.
Level 9
Cultural Ability   Improved Long Sword Training: You gain a +1 damage bonus to Longsword.
Level 10
Knighthood: You gain the title and rank of Knight. At the start of each event gain 20 GP as taxes from your lands.   Expert Mounted Combat: You gain an additional +1 to damage with a short spear (for a total of +3 damage). This replaces Improved Mounted Combat.
