Dreamers

Dreamers are an aquatic humanoid species that can be most commonly found in the deeper regions of the oceans. Standing between 4’10” and 5’6” these people are most at home in the water. Their bodies are covered in darker scales from reds and blues to some greens and off yellows. Along their backs and arms they have fins which help them move in the water along with webbed hands and feet with pointed claws. Living deep in the ocean they have additionally developed forms of bioluminescence which glows along their fins. Some people compare them to humanoid angler fish. In some regions the dreamers have moved closer to the surface and developed some softer features more akin to an axolotl.   Naturally gifted martial warriors, dreamers from tight clans in the ocean, practicing the art of sword fighting and brawling in an aquatic environment has made them deadly foes. The dreamers can regularly be found battling with tritons over under water territorial disputes or assisting pirates with pillaging and plundering coastal regions.   Some dreamers are social outcasts who wish to study the land above that they so seldom get to wander, or have separated themselves from the clans and are now a portion of society. Culturally they feel a great connection even still with the water, for the researchers find it brings them peace and tranquility allowing them to further their thoughts and discoveries. For the warriors, the water feels like a more natural fight terrain, having trained to fight in an aquatic environment the land feels rather simple with limited vertical battlegrounds. For that reason those who still listen to the call of battle often seek methods of flight to help them feel more at home a drift in the air.   Dreamers are still working on being fully recognized as a civilized race of beings for their monstrous features and warning histories leave many to hesitate.
