Cresh

The equivalent of a single family home.

Purpose

Their primary purpose is a temporary house for Daulka in breeding status. It is here they mate, lay and incubate their eggs and raise the resulting newts/younglings until they are three years old. In-between breeding families, they are utilized by various professions, usually farmers and herders, but sometimes patrolling guards, to ensure the structure is properly maintained until the next family moves in.

Amount

The number of creshes per Grand can vary greatly, both due to the size of the community and available resources of the environment they are in. Even with a high resource area, however, there are only so many of them available per breeding cycle and thus are hotly contested by those hoping to start a family in a particular breeding season. How this is resolved varies by Grand, but a combination of lottery and competition are the most common means of resolving this kind of conflict.

Location

They are located a fair distance from the main Grand itself, usually in proximity to farming and herd pens.

Materials

Considering their importance, the main structure is built out of usually stone and wood.

Furnishings

Every cresh is equipped with the essentials for raising a family. Inside the building there is have one Communal Bed for the adults and a smaller one for younglings. There is also a Cooling Nest and place to stow cookware and other food baring equipment. Connected to the main area is a door into the main storage, where food, water and extra bedding and other essentials are kept.
Outside is a Fire pit. There may or may not be a wall or fence around the yard, but beyond this would be any herd pins and crops the family is obligated to tend to during their stay.
