The Cloud Watchers are
Highland Sif that chose to live high up in the mountains of the
Greater Spine and
the Joining. They are renown for their vigilance and expert reading of weather patterns, the latter beign what earned their name.
Courtship and Reproduction
Due to the frequent extreme weather conditions and cold temperatures, their domain is not suitable for breeding. Thus any members that wish to breed are required to head to a Grand lower down the mountains to have a chance at finding a breeding partner. This is done on a rotation basis, to ensure every member that wishes to reproduce has a chance to do so.
Naming
Aside from the common syllable structure of two for males and three for females, they have no set naming traditions.
Culture
Due to their unsuitable breeding habitant, the Cloud Watchers function more akin to a
organization than a cultural group. As such, they take their duties of watching the weather very seriously, warning the other Grands of dangerous weather either with horn blows, drum beats or, for the closest Grands, a swift flying member.
Membership
As a necessity, their membership come from other Highland Sif communities. Most members are hens, due to the high female to male ratio, but the occasional buck, usually those past their breeding prime or otherwise considered
unsuitable may join. That said, each Cloud Watcher Grand is fairly small, housing usually no more than twenty individuals at a time.
