They say knowledge is power, this is not entirely correct. To have your opponent underestimate you, that is the true power
— Reportedly the Grandmaster of the Syndicate of the Shadowed Blade
The Grandmaster of the Syndicate of the Shadowed Blade is so secretive that only a handful of people in the entire organisation know the code name, let alone who it actually is. As is their way, everything is so shrouded in mystery as secrecy is the way they remain undetected.   Many hushed theories exist among the members of the Syndicate about who the person at the top could be, or even whether or not it is really just one person or more. None of them could even get close to the truth. Nobody would expect the little frail, old lady in a backwater town in Stoltzlandt. But Erin Reight plays on this ruse which has helped her stay undetected for decades. She seems so weak yet could kill a man in his prime in an instant. She has perfect the art of blending in so well that town guards would help her to cross the road, blissfully unaware that this person could bring them an unthinkable amount of gold in bounty.   Having ran the guild for over 50 years now she runs a tight ship, as is a must in this line of work. No mishap can be tolerated as it may compromise the security of the entire organisation. She took up the mantle of Grandmaster after her successor had a bad fall off the edge of a cliff. The fact that he had tried to double cross Erin had absolutely nothing to do with it, not that there were any witnesses. Someone had to fill the vacuum and who better to lead a guild of assassins than a person as ruthless and unwavering as her?
As the burly, rough looking and slightly inebriated man stumbled along the narrow street, eyeing up what seemed such an easy prey he had no idea that his world was about to be turned upside down. This frail old woman walking home on her own would prove such easy pickings, the coin purse so obviously swinging at her side, it was almost like an invitation. He thought so confidently that he had crept up on her so sneakily, how wrong he was. For one the smell of the night's alcohol mixed with his overbearing bodily odour had given him away far earlier than he would care to know. Not only that but his footsteps, that he thought were so quiet, sounded like elephants stamping on the ground to such a trained ear. one step closer, then another, then an arm outstretched, reaching for that purse. Then something he did not expect.   With a quick snap of her walking cane this frail old woman swept round, trapping the assailant's wrist in the process. With just a simple movement a sharp pain wracked the man's body as his wrist broke. Before he could react his knee was knocked to the side, this combination of loss of stability and pressure on the broken wrist easily brought him down to his knees as the stick came up and connected with his temple and everything went black. His final thought, how had something that seemed so easy gone so wrong?   Sensing the glow of a torch from around the corner the lady, totally unfazed and without so much as a word nimbly shifted to the porch of her house, opening her door just in time. Doing so just as the two town guards turned the corner, pretending to have just come out of her house to see what the commotion was. Quietly grateful of the fact these guards were so relaxed in their duties and hadn't appeared sooner. How could they suspect this lovely little lady of taking down a big strong man like that?
