Dark Moor and the Realm of Antar
Beyond the welcoming gate and bridge the true power of Darkmoor Castle can be seen. The inner black marble wall protects the inner keep, the castle, and most importantly the Rectory of the Divine. This temple/fortress was constructed over the blightstone found in the city after it was reclaimed. The stone is controlled by the king and priests. It was considered, too powerful to be under the control of only a single power. The knights of the old god Mars protect the stone and keep 12 of their best knights bound to the stone. Surrounding the rectory is a field of blighted grass, encircled by a ring of gold paving stones at the point where the blight stops. This shows everyone in the inner enclave of the city that no more and no less than 12 have touched the blightstone. The castle walls have been under siege from the Ogres to the north countless times. it is Darkmoor Castle and their Army which has served as the wall against the Ogre Blight scourge. Almost daily forays are lead into the blight by some of the Knights of Mars to hunt the marked in the Ogre blight to keep the blight in check. Darkmoor Castle has been an inspiration for generations for their bravery and their resilience. The faint of heart do not seek to live in this region.
Geography
South of the Gryphonwall mountains, east of the Fallow Sea, Southwest of the Ogre Blight and North of the Cindercloak Woods
Fauna & Flora
Rocky ridges with shallow soil give the region its name. These regions are covered in a hardy dark green grass, and black/grey lichen covers the exposed rocks. There is no shortage of precipitation, however in the shadow of the mountains and perpetual mists it is a region with limited sunlight days. Trees grow taller in the southern and western lowlands of valleys where the soil is thick enough to support their roots. Ferns fill these valleys and in the brief spring the forest floor is almost completely covered in a large violet star shaped flower called Pembright.
Natural Resources
Black marble is readily available.
The harder grasses provide grazing for small herd animals like goats and sheep.
There are modest mines for common metals, minerals and a few gemstones.
