Electrum

Summary

An Elesh´i noblewoman had a miscarriage, giving birth to a baby with no lungs, which quickly died on her arms. She was struck with grief until she died, and her husband followed soon after because he could not live without her.   The remaining brothers were grieving too, but decided that the loss of their brother would not kill them like that. So they devised a plan, they would turn the tragedy into something good.   They dig up the corpse of his little brother, their father and mother, and chop them to pieces. Latter, they put together the family fortune in gold and silver and climbed the most western mountain of the world to be close to the sun.   When all three were there, they used a ladder to reach to the sun, using his tentacles as fire to melt the gold, silver, and the bodies of their dead family members. The scorching sun did not make this task easy, sending heat wave after heat wave to kill the three brothers, evaporating the water of their jars and so on and so on. But they did endure, and formed a body of electrum, mixing gold and silver, to make a statue in honor of their deceased family.   The sun, seeing them work hard and giving their all, took pity on the brothers and stop trying to kill them, securing the best and most powerful flames for them to use when melting the metals.   When they arrived to their Poli, they went to the temple of Palaesstra, the goddess of wisdom and technology to donate the statue.   The sun informed her, during the night, of the exploit of the three brothers, and later blew life into the statue, but thanks to the infusion of three different people, the statue found itself three times more intelligent and aware than a normal Elesh, being the conjunction of three separate individuals and their individual experiences. Palaesstras was amused with it, and instead of sending him home, kept it for herself to train him in the arts of metallurgy and smithy, giving him an omniscient knowledge of all the materials that compose his body. With it, he trained to become a blacksmith under the tutelage of the goddess of wisdom herself, later marring her and impregnating her. She later gave birth to all the new tools of smithy.

Historical Basis

Electrum, the combination of gold and silver, is the official metal of the Elesh culture.

Spread

Almost all the polis of the Eleshanty League adore Electrum in one way or another, sometimes as another god, and sometimes as just a powerfull spirit, more powerfull than a demigod but not as a full god.

Variations & Mutation

The principal variations is on the origin of the statue, some say that its a god, others say that its just a minor deity akin to a spirit.   Besides, marring the godess of wisdom is no small feat, so a lot of people, mostly the people living on polis were she is the patron godess tend to write out that part, and the part were she is pregnant, telling that the tools that she gave birth were simple gift he send to her to try to confes his love for her, but when she rejected him, he decided to gift the Elesh´s with them instead.
