Tier III - W

An organized Black street gang with roots in returning WW2 veterans, spiritual defense rituals, and a fierce code of self-rule. The Monarchs protect their slice of West Englewood with militant pride and Veil-backed precision, resisting both the Outfit and newer upstart crews. They move like a disciplined militia—but fight like something older still lives in their blood.

“We don’t claim blocks. We claim legacies.”
The Gold Guard, Crownwalkers

The Crew

Npcs

Jeremiah “Monk” Warren (leader) – Broad-shouldered, soft-spoken, war-scarred. A tactician and spiritualist who leads with heavy presence.
Malik “Switch” Goodwin (lieutenant) – Flashy, fast-talking, street-slick. Loyal to Monk, but has his own ideas about expanding east.
Sister Asa – Veil practitioner and spiritual adviser. Keeps charms blessed and the spirits on their side.
“Penny” Bell – Young enforcer, feared brawler, carries a gold-plated knife and a hundred old debts.
Tyre “Bones” Carter – Driver, runner, ghost-scout. Says he knows the lay of the Veil better than the streets.

West Englewood Turf

Turf

Bishop’s Turn Park (HQ) – Their sacred ground and training zone; guarded, chalked, and often warded at night.
New Life Shelter – Discreet base of operations and recruitment for those with nowhere else to go.
Holy Word Baptist Church (Back Lot) – Hidden ritual and planning space guarded by spiritual elders.
Ashland Loop Tracks – Rail line border they use for surveillance, ambushes, and disappearances.

Notable Assets

Gold-marked prayer beads that double as Veil-linked charms.   A deep alliance with an underground circle of South Side spirit-workers.   Old war rifles and modern street weapons, carefully hoarded and blessed.

Quirks

Every member takes a “marking walk” through the Veil with a guide before initiation.   Their colors—black and gold—must never be disrespected, even by allies.   All Monarchs carry one item from a family ancestor or war relic—often Veil-touched.

Situation

The Monarchs are being squeezed. The Crown Sons grow louder, the ICB flirts with expansion, and the city’s looking to "clean up" West Englewood ahead of new zoning. Monk wants to hold territory—but Switch is whispering about reaching east into Englewood proper. Meanwhile, something under the Ashland Loop is howling louder. They've begun nightly cleansing marches, just in case.   TODO: ADD DIPLOMACY LINK TODO: ADD MAP LINK
