The Caledonian Forest

This massive woodland once dominated the entirety of the Pictish Highlands. Today, much of the woodland has receded but there is enough remaining to make travel in the Highlands dangerous in the extreme.

Pagan practices and dark magic dominate many parts of this forest.  The Black Forest of Melanudrigill, for instance, is said to be a gathering place for those who call upon the Cailleach, Hag of Beara and Queen of Winter, who is believed by some to be an aspect of Cyrridwen herself.
