Truesilver Material in Dark Age of Ur (First Draft) | World Anvil

Truesilver

The rare metal at the heart of Rowens minted by the Empire of a Thousand Thrones. Made deep in a volcanic vent, coins and bullion made of this silver alloy have an ineffable quality to them that makes them glow with an eerie ultraviolet hue which is visible in the darkness. Minted by the The Thousand Thrones of the Azure Eye, it's creation is a heavily guarded trade secret. A strange material with mostly unremarkable differences while compared to untreated silver besides it's complete inability to be changed. Several unaffiliated alchemists have attempted to discern a method of melting truesilver or replicating the metallurgical processes required to create it, but nothing short of the work of a Grandmaster has been close to finding a breakthrough. Alchemical theorists believe that this material is evidence of the law of Intrinsicality due to extreme level of expression in each coin's intrinsicality. During the reign of Annabelle IV, the last great Empress of her name and title, several artisans were allowed to create items forged in truesilver, armaments as well as domestic wares. Inexplicably expensive, these items have passed several times and are said to hold the same sheen as the day they were made.

Properties

Material Characteristics

A luxurious, lustrous metal that has been altered to glow with a ghostly indigo hue. It is distinctly metallic looking with a shiny grey color throughout. Due to alterations to the intrinsicality of this material- it is entirely unalterable and will never patina.

Physical & Chemical Properties

Retains the conductivity of silver, to native elements.
Immutable by magic, physical stresses or alchemy.
Can be manipulated by egos that lack a body.

Compounds

Specialty paints, veneers and oils can use previously pulverized soul silver in the creation of objects made for use by ghosts, spectres and banshees.

Origin & Source

This material must be smelted using the primal energy of the Leyline of Flame. Anywhere the primal energy can be drawn from beneath the mantle can potentially be a place to mold objects using this material. The only place this material is known to be forged is the Island of a Thousand Thrones in a forge beneath the palatial grounds.

Life & Expiration

No known method exists to changing the Intrinsicality  of this material.

History & Usage

History

Initially created Empress Evangeline II to cement the legacy of her Great Grandmother's Empire and influence trade and commerce all over the world.

Discovery

Truesilver was first discovered by Grandmaster Miceli, the Royal Grandmaster who had been hard at work providing alchemical armaments and preservatives for the royal fleet.

Everyday use

This was used exclusively by burghers and merchants during it's initial use. However by the reign of Annabelle IV] so many coins had been issues and minted from the Royal family that peasants began to use them to buy commodities.
