Elder Being | Witches
Introduction
Of the many nightmarish threats that make up the ranks of the legions of night, some are more powerful, others more vicious or clever in the way they attack humans. Some even use mimicry or disguise to make it easier to wipe out human populations, but while these creatures go for the jugular without a second thought, there is one species, one type of creature, that is far more vicious, far more intelligent and powerful than most of its counterparts, creatures that plot and manipulate their fellows with weaker psyches to form a veritable army capable of shaking the earth and breaking down the strongest of defences.
1) Description
Witches are cunning creatures, they're extremely intelligent and they always choose the most effective method when they set their sights on a target. Every witch is different and their physical appearance is utterly disgusting to the human eye, they often look like a mass of horrible mutations with a vague anthrophic structure, some have horns or bony growths all over their bodies and they often have some animal-like features like beaks or antlers.
The most evil ones may even wear cloaks made of flesh or sew human faces onto parts of their bodies to further instill fear in their victims, as this is the most effective weakness they can use to harm humans.
And the KnightMonks of the Cenobite order are the only humans able to fight on par with the witches.
Lairs
In order to carry out their evil deeds, the witch will often settle in one of the places they have raided, often using wooden houses and completely covering the walls with flesh, bones and skin in order to perform rituals and strengthen their powers. These nightmarish locations are known as Lairs, and are the target of choice when attempting to hunt a witch, as they are the most likely to be present there.
If a witch is leading an army of creatures, they will often raid multiple locations, changing hideouts each time to move to one closer to their next target. In these situations, they are extremely difficult to locate, as their location changes and news of their attacks cannot be reported, since there are almost never any survivors to spread the news; when a witch legion is in action, it is often discovered many weeks after the initial attack, when the scouts of the army or an order of knights discover the remains of the villages they have slaughtered.
2) Powers from the Dark
Rituals & Offerings
The witches are known to perform two types of rituals, each requiring a large amount of human sacrifice, one is a strengthening ritual, the witch will stay for a few days performing rites and chanting evil prayers in order to gain more powers from the outer gods, if a witch performs a lot of these rituals before being discovered they'll be extremely powerful and able to use their dark powers to a paramount degree.
The second type of ritual is a gathering ritual, the witch builds an altar of bones to spread her psychic influence and gather many creatures under her authority, this is the most dangerous ritual and it requires an extremely large amount of corpses to perform, that's why the Grave Templars do everything they can to prevent it from happening.
Known Powers
Witches use a combination of physical attacks and darkly powerful incantations, each of which is different, but so far witches have been reported to use lightning, blood manipulation, telekinesis, mind manipulation and the most terrifying of all, soul extraction, a power that can exploit even the slightest weakness in the mind to steal the victim's soul and cause their body to explode into a mass of flesh and bone.
It also goes without saying that their mere presence is enough to plunge the average human into madness, and that only the legendary orders of chivalry can withstand their psychic attacks.
3) Known Specimens
There are currently 7 reported cases of witches appearing on human territory and 5 of them have been slain, while 2 managed to escape or were simply too powerful to stop and are still lurking in the shadows of the realm, just waiting for the right time to strike again.
These cases have been named as follows:
