When two people or spirits are deeply in love, it is said that both souls complement each other, and they become two halves of one whole. In users of Arcanis, their love will also show in their powers. They will find that their powers complement each other, like the push and pull of a tide. In this way, the lovers fill the gaps in the other.
Even in people without active Arcanis, this effect is still seen in daily life. Because when two people are in love, or have a deep connection to each other, the energy that is created between them means that their souls are now aligned. The things they will accomplish together depend on this alignment, and how strong it is.

Mirrored Fighting Styles

It is easy to tell when two people are close companions when their fighting styles mirror one another. It is like a synchronised dance, where each person covers the weak points of their other half. One person would use offense, while the other would use defence. If both fighters are good, sometimes they will switch positions, so the defender is now on offence and the attacker is on defence. They might even switch positions multiple times during a single fight.

Complementary Arcanis

Arcanis is the manifestation of one’s desires. So if two desires are aligned, then their Arcana will also be aligned, allowing them to achieve many things. For example, if two people were building something using their Arcana, one person might prefer to build the structure while the other person would build the supports for that structure. Or if two people are fighting, they draw power from each other in order to fight as one.

The Soul’s Language

When two soulmates are near each other, they can speak without using any actual words. Sometimes, this can be seen through body language, but other times, the conversation is more spiritual. This is called the soul’s language in some quarters, and is often confused with telepathy. But the soul's language is one that transcends words, but is often hard to explain to those who have never experienced it.

Lost Soulmates

If two people become stronger when their souls are aligned, then they will be weaker if they lose their soulmate. If one of the two soulmates dies, then their other half will grieve deeply, because their connection was more than a mortal one. These people usually can't find another person that aligns perfectly with their souls, and many cannot complete their goals or do the things they used to do with their partner. That is because they are now incomplete, when before, they were whole.
