Solomon Duskarow

Solomon Duskarow is a navigator with a penchant for trouble. Before learning of the ancient technology, he spent his days wondering the lands of the Known World, often wearing a blue or maroon cloak to keep curious eyes off him. When he was in the cities, he often caused a lot of trouble, usually by shooting at things with his bow and arrows.

Personality

Those who know Solomon think he is boisterous and chatty. He is quite sarcastic and always has a quip for any situation. Despite his bubbly personality, Solomon has a cynical worldview, and is not very trusting of others. He is especially distrustful of warlocks, as they offer quick fixes to problems, and the United Government, who impose top-down control all over the Known World.
Even though he is cynical, he is surprisingly empathetic to others' struggles. He is often very perceptive to others and the world around him.

Personal History

Early Life

Solomon grew up in Taqairo, and came from a large family. This meant he was often ignored in favour of his louder siblings. Despite this, he was very close to his family, especially his older sister Jana.
From an early age, Solomon was interested in maps, and the stories that his family told him of the people in those countries. He started began creating his own maps for his own stories. At his mother's insistence, he went to school and studied for a few years. However there were very few career paths that appealed to him, so Solomon stayed at home and continued learning cartography.

Coming of Age

When he turned 16, Solomon was allowed to choose a path, and decided to join the Outriders. He also chose a lifelong tool, a bow and arrow, because he preferred observing his opponents before attacking them. His bow was given to him as a gift from his father.

The Outriders

Solomon enjoyed his time with the Outriders and rose through the ranks as a top archer. He protected many wealthy citizens all over the Known World, and earned lots of cash for it. Many people were avoided him, as his eyes were sharp and his precision was excellent. Hailing from a middle class family, Solomon was indifferent to all those he killed. The Outriders' code of conduct was to not question their client, so he followed their rules for a long time. However, he began to notice the differences between the powerful, and the powerless, and felt more uncomfortable with taking on new jobs.

The Government Plot

Solomon learned to expect gossip from those he was hired to protect, so listened to their complaints with enough interest to keep the conversation going. The people who hired him were usually wealthy politicians, so he heard of many assassination attempts, scandals, and controversial policies. However, one politician told Solomon part of a government plot, which was to keep parts of Dankar's history a secret, even though they promised it would be in public records.
This angered Solomon, and he decided to get closer to politicians so he could learn more. While he didn't discover much, he learned enough to understand that the United Government wanted to use the gaslight the public to benefit themselves. He told his family their plan, but they mostly refused to believe him. Because of this, he exposed it to as many people as he could. Many people believed him, but the Duskarows stood against him, because of their connection to the Government. Eventually, Solomon gave up and left the family home, as he felt betrayed by those closest to him. Unfortunately, the United Government punished all the Duskarows and ensured that the public only remembered them as troublemakers.

Physical Description

Special abilities

Because he is a Human, Solomon has an enhanced sense of touch. This allows him to connect with others just by touching them, although not to the degree of Psychics. Solomon also has the Elemental power of Atmo.

Specialized Equipment

Solomon is never seen without his bow, and has grown quite attached to it. On his back, he carries a satchel with many different types of arrows in it. While many of them are normal arrows, there are a few which have been infused with different potions to create different effects.

When Solomon learns some ancient technology has been found, he seizes the opportunity to take it. For him, the technology is a way to explore Dankar's lands the way he wants to, and ensure the Government doesn't have control over history and the unknown. Solomom also seeks to restore his family's honour and legacy.

Ever since he was young, Solomon dreamed of travelling the world and experiencing the stories he heard as a child. He also wants to map the world and create an atlas, something that has not been done yet due to the dangers of travelling across Dankar.

Relationships

Mother

Solomon has a complex relationship with his mother. He was initially very close to her, but their relationship broke down when she backed the United Government over him. This caused Solomon to leave the country for many years.
However, he decides to restore the bond he had with his mother, when he finds himself needing her help for a short while.

Eleni Vallakis

When he first meets Eleni, he is quite hostile to her, as she refuses to hand over the ancient technology she is hiding. Over time, they develop a brother-sister relationship, and are constantly bickering over many things. Solomon considers Eleni quite naive and annoying, so he often calls her a kid, which irks her. Despite all this, Solomon grows closer to her and feels they both understand each other very well.

Santiago Vallakis

Solomon is not very close to Santiago, and often gets quite irritated by his antics. He is also annoyed that Santiago borrows so much money from him, and is yet to pay any of it back.

Sanjana Duskarow

Solomon is very close to his older sister Jana, as she is very understanding of his problems and works with him to solve them. She always makes time for him, whenever his other family members are focused on other things. Jana was also one of the only people who supported Solomon when he told the Government's plans to his family.

Skills

Solomon excels at archery and navigation. He knows how to drive boats and can steer them clear of any danger. He is also very good at cartography and understands most of Dankar's geography. As a hobby, he also draws sketches of people when he thinks they are in the perfect position.
