Mpîzi Spider

Mpisi spiders are large nocturnal spiders found in the east of Isinoki. They wake up earlier than other nocturnal animals on the island and go back to their caverns at dawn. They don't travel around the island much. Instead, they build their webs in smaller spaces and linger around, waiting for their prey to come to them. Many of their webs are in between rocky cliffs that people and animals easily walk into.
Mpisi spiders eat any and all meat that gets trapped on their webs. They mainly eat smaller animals since they cannot easily free themselves from the spider's web. In the case of larger animals, the Mpisi spider does not eat them right away. Larger animals will use more force to untangle themselves, so the Mpisi has to paralyse them first. They have venemous fangs that they can quickly paralyse their prey before wrapping them in silk and bringing them back to their nests. The spiders are large enough that they only need to bite once for the venom to work.
Mpisi spiders are about a metre taller than most regular-sized humanoids. Their legs are long and good for travelling fast over long distances. Mpisi spiders are known for their speed. They don't usually chase their prey but they prefer to wait for animals to be caught in their webs. But very occasionally, they will dash across Isinoki to chase mobile prey, usually humanoids.
