The Dragonwatch Prefecture
The Dragonwatch Prefecture has existed in some form since 445PS, when the eponymous fortress was built to keep watch over the region. It really started growing as a ruling organisation in the early 500's, when King Tristram II began granting it additional lands in gratitude for saving his life from the widespread assassination of his family.
The centre of power moved to Fort Roblack on it's contruction in the mid 700's, with the old Dragonwatch fort falling into gradual disrepair, although the town remained prosperous enough.
The Prefecture is overseen by an elected Prefect- in order to be eligible for election a citizen of Daly must have spent at least ten years in either the army or the navy, and been recognised for bravery at least once. That is the only formal criteria, but obviously that generates a huge field of candidates, so the election process turns into a tenday-long festival each 15 years (the maximum term length), when candidates compete in tests of skills, strategy, constitution and more in order to prove themselves and earn votes from the electorate- all of those resident in the Prefecture at the time of the election.
For the past six years the Prefect has been Maiavain, a heartily built male Firbolg who rose up through the army with ease.
