Manannan Mac Lir (Mah-nan-an mac Leer)
Manannan Mac Lir is the god of seas and oceans, rivers and lakes, and is commonly also worshipped as the god of weather generally, so much of it being generated by the seas and lakes of Daly.
He has a boat that is said to sail itself endlessly around the oceans surrounding Daly ("Wave-sweeper"), a horse (Aonbharr) which can course over water as well as land, and a deadly strength-sapping sword named Fragarach, used to defend the land from all attacks by sea.
He is the third of the true Neutral nature gods, joining Silvanus and Dunatis in the Otherland where they keep the lands in balance.
Sometimes appearing as a triton, sea-elf or water genasi, Manannan Mac Lir also often appears as a grizzled old sea captain (either human or tortle, as the whim takes him), and has been known to spend hours spinning yarns and swapping tales of the sea with sailors and fishermen.
He is almost universally worshipped by sailors and those who spend their lives at the mercy of the water, but also counts many followers among farmers and travellers whose very lives depend on the weather.
He is the only god of the main pantheon who does not have a day named for him, but this is because his realm is so pervasive that it can override any other. During a particularly heavy storm or disaster the day will often be changed to Mannaday, regardless of where it falls in the week, and you will see several occasions in the history books where a disaster such as the Liot Tsunami will be referred to as falling on Mannaday, 7th of Summertide, 170PS.
It is not unheard of for schoolchildren wishing to avoid their learning to sing a song praying for a Mannaday- but just a little one!
